other than using it to access porn sites - which I don't do anymore, really, what is the appeal?

I will say it's pretty cool to be able to watch shit on Netflix and YouTube that you can't on Netflix U.S.

99% of people don’t need one. This whole security thing about how everyone needs a VPN is crap.

Can't they still track you on your entry and exit points even if you use VPN? Maybe you internet security specialists can answer that one. I'm just a Rocker. At any rate, we need a decent ad blocker if we go to this site, or other shady discussion boards, that people over 40 still go to.

I think you need the full onion/Tor thing to get around that.

I've never set it up so don't ask me how to do it though

Yea, I use surf shark. If you have it set up right, be pretty tough to track down where the user is really at. Dont think they really bother anymore with even tracking people down. Just not worth the cost and hassle of doing it. People dont really torrent any more, I dont think. Everything is streamed. People say well, what if they find out you are doing some torrent stuff. There are reasons to using a torrent site.

Most of linux is got from torrent sites. People share there own music. Several legit reasons to torrent. So its not worth the hassle of going after someone. There are just tons of servers, and lots of people are hooked to this or that server. How would you know whats what?
