Good or bad?
Good:
Great job. Excellent salary, excellent people I work with. Very happy. Definitely the highlight of my year.
Movies and tv were pretty boring, but I did love Late Night With The Devil and Godzilla X Kong. Still have those on repeat.
Bad:
Politics, all of it!
Boyfriend became, and is still critically ill. I hope he'll pull through okay . . . Nothing could be worse than that.

2024 was really good for me. Met a great woman and fell in love, and really kicked ass at work and have the recognition and respect of my peers and the inmates. Applied and tested highly for Corporal, and have the oral board for that on 1/7, so things are definitely looking up.

I'm sure you'll do fine on the oral.

2024 was pretty good.
Best thing is I got a new grandson. He was born March 1st. He's the cutest! My daughter and her husband are pretty great too.
I got a new car in September. I was driving the previous one for 13 years. So that's good.
I've had the same job for 12 years, and that just gets better. Got a huge bonus and a raise beginning in January 2025.
All in all I'd say 2024 was good.

2024? Meh... could be a lot worse but also better. Like most years lately and better than 2022-23 as I have moved on from both a bad job and a bad relationship.
My health could have been better and l didn't need the sudden loss that wiped out a couple of months gain in the stock market. Should have bought doggycoin...

the good:
knowing I've managed to raise a pretty decent kid, despite my own dysfunctional upbringing.
completed my 22nd year at my current job. while the job is nowhere near as enjoyable as it was when I started, it's kept a roof over my head, health insurance and a little coin in the bank.
my friends and family are, for the most part, happy and healthy.
the bad:
the election, and the Hell that the next 4 years will bring.

Good
I am still alive, have a home, have amazing girlfriend, have a cat have money in the bank, still don't have to work, still have my health for now
Bad
Politics
lazier than ever, didn't get much done
a bit more aches and pains here and there
mostly just shit in my own head

2024 has been an extraordinary year for me, surpassing any previous year in recent past, in terms of fulfillment. My work, which I consider both my life's passion and a rewarding hobby, has yielded remarkable productivity and significant financial success, exceeding even my most ambitious goals.
The regular periods of dedicated time away from work to recharge, were devoted to traveling, primarily for exhilarating high-altitude mountaineering adventures and to catch live shows.
Reflecting on the year, there is nothing bad to report. While challenges are inevitable, I am fortunate that 2024 has been a year of remarkable growth, achievement, and profound personal satisfaction. I am grateful that life, as always, has been beyond ideal, and am confident that the future holds even greater promise.
I hope all the sludgers had a wonderful holiday and I wish you the best in 2025!

What do you actually do for work? A professional rock climber?

Unlike the glamorous life of a professional rock climber or a musician, my profession as a scientist, specifically a physicist, while intellectually demanding, is often considered quite nerdy. Mountaineering serves as my escape, a vital outlet to recharge, since my life revolves almost entirely around my work, i.e. by choice, I spend nearly all my waking hours working.

The bad - I'd rather not go into details, but it's been a challenging year for me health-wise. I have an appointment in February with a specialist to talk about possible stent surgery.
The good - I've gotten to spend time with my grandkids, and went on a few trips this summer. (One to Newport Beach, the other to a Comic-con in Denver.)

I'm starting to miss those days (all waking hours working) from 2014-2020 and 2021

Most thankful for my job.
Least thankful that I still blow every dime I make. I kick one bad habit and start another one. Hoping I’m out of bad habits now and can clean up my act in ‘25!
Wishing all of you the best in the new year!

Nothing is a more telling commentary for 2024 than Jimmy Carter passing in the last days of it just days before Fuckface takes office.
The death of good and the triumph of shit.

According to U.S. flag code, flags must be lowered for 30 days following the death of a sitting or former president.
That timeline overlaps the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and adds another layer of history to his presidential legacy.
When Trump takes the oath of office, he’ll be the first to do so while U.S. flags are lowered.

Good for you. If she likes Screaming for Vengeance better then Painkiller she’s even more impressive.
