John Murtha has died.

Post by VinnieKulick »

Good riddance.

Hope he has a nice long roasting in hell.

Maybe the people of PA can get some less corrupt people to represent them.

I had forgotten that he was a big figure in the ABSCAM operation. That might have been my first real exposure to politics, remember watching that every night on the news as a nine year old.

I never like to play the "good riddance" card on dead people (that's pretty awful dude) unless it's a murderer or a child molestor.

But I will say fuck that guy.

He didn't do anything horrible. Nothing beyond the normal political shit and he was never convicted of any wrongdoing.

Well calling american soldiers cold blooded murderers was pretty offensive.
ABSCAM ring a bell? Or his constant defending earmarks?
He was a piece of shit as a member of congress, an embarrassment to his state, and to the nation as a whole.

None of the obits I read on Murtha even MENTIONED Abscam. He didn't get busted doing anything, and did not accept bribes.

He's also been one of the biggest hawks in Congress so I'm surprised to see all the righties slamming him. Up till recently, there wasn't a war he wouldn't vote for.

he's also a veteran who has killled lots of people, but we know that most conservatives don't consider that to be respectable military service.

His conduct during ABSCAM was certainly questionable, if nothing else.
In 1980, during his fourth term as a Congressman, Murtha became embroiled in the Abscam investigation, which targeted dozens of congressmen. The investigation entailed FBI operatives posing as intermediaries for Saudi nationals hoping to bribe their way through the immigration process into the United States. Murtha met with these operatives and was videotaped. He did agree to testify against Frank Thompson (D-NJ) and John Murphy (D-NY), the two Congressmen mentioned as participants in the deal at the same meeting and who were later videotaped placing the cash bribes in their trousers. The FBI videotaped Murtha responding to an offer of $50,000, with Murtha saying, "I'm not interested... at this point. [If] we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't", right after Murtha had offered to provide names of businesses and banks in his district where money could be invested legally.[15] The U.S. Attorney's Office reasoned that Murtha's intent was to obtain investment in his district. Full length viewing of the tape shows Murtha citing prospective investment opportunities that could return "500 or 1000" miners to work.
And the guy was the biggest pork barrel waste Congressman ever. Unless that sort of thing doesn't bother you of course.

Uh...this isn't about "bothering me" this is about "Wow I'm so glad that cocksucker is dead I hope he rots in hell" which is the original posters view, before you chimed in with "fuck him"

A little over the top if you ask me for someone who enganged in the same "questionable" and "bothering" behavoir as pretty much everyone else.

Politics as usual, nothing to see here...the guy was a great servant to his country in war and I'm quite sure they loved him in PA.

That guy hit the fucking lottery when he wasn't indicted in ABSCAM. That's as close to crossing the line as you'll ever see.

Here he is, "serving his country honorably".
