So you're saying that the Democrats fed the CBO with the wrong information or what? I don't get your point. The bill as it was passed is projected by the CBO to reduce the deficit by between 1 and 1.5 trillion over the next 20 years. You can't just claim that won't be the case because you don't like the bill.



This part is always fun.

Unemployment = 16 percent
Medicare = 13 percent
Medicaid = 8 percent
Interest on the debt = 5 percent
Veterans' Affairs = 1.5 percent

That is 63.5 percent of the budget that is spent automatically without the President or Congress having any control over it. You try to cut any of those things and there will be rioting. Now try and explain how you'd balance the budget without letting the Bush-era tax cuts expire. This Teabagger pie-in-the-sky concept of cutting taxes and then cutting spending and somehow balancing the budget is pure fantasy, because the only place you could possibly save money is defense - and ironically the teabaggers and lunatic fringe Republicans love their wars (and they sure spend a lot of time blaming Clinton for gutting the military).

My biggest concern these days is the spiraling deficit and ever expanding national debt of the United States. It will sink this country. It is simply unsustainable.

So we just do what almost every other nation on Earth has done, and done to us in particular: repudiate the debt and start over. Fuck 'em, what are they gonna do? We can feed ourselves and get most of our oil from Canada. Pull all our troops home and let the world learn to get along amongst itself, or let them fight. Not our business.

Oh yeah, other countries make a lot of military spare parts. So we tool up and make them ourselves again. It's not as if it's beyond us, it's just cheaper to source foreign parts.

Not really. I don't have any problem with people being rich. I just don't see why they should pay less and less taxes as time goes on, while everyone else pays more and more. Because that is exactly what has been happening since the 70s. Ninety nine percent of conservatives who defend the right of the wealthy to pay less taxes than everyone else will go to the grave never having become wealthy themselves.
