There were a ton of people there and Democrats hoped it would help with their re-election chances. Obviously, the feared Republican wave was very real.
My question is this...
In your opinion, did Jon Stewart's Restoring Sanity Rally effect the election outcomes? Would it have been even worse for the Democrats had Stewart not gotten involved?
Question regarding Stewart's Restoring Sanity Rally...

Re: Question regarding Stewart's Restoring Sanity Rally...
It was actually restore Sanity And/or Fear.
I believe they would consider that Fear has been restored by virtue of the results.
Seriously though, I think a lot of people at that really may not have voted out of disgust with the puppets on both sides of the aisle. From their POV that was probably a mistake, because even though they are disappointed with the Dems' performance, they are still, for them, the lesser evil.
What they probably hope for is that in 2012, the GOP will lose again after not being able to produce a recovery either. Then the chastened Democrats returning to office will get on the stick and push their agenda ore vehemently instead of infighting and taking their political powert for granted again.
Whether things will actually turn out that way, well who knows? The Dems dropped the ball the last 2 years, getting some things done but fucking up their chances to continue straight on through.
