Record High Enrollment for Food Stamps: 46,681,833
12:51 PM, Oct 16, 2012 •
Food stamps enrollment has hit a new record high. 46,681,833 million are now enrolled in the social welfare program, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, the federal department that runs the program.
Here's a chart from the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, outlining the program's enormous growth:
As the chart shows (you can see it in the link below) when President Obama took office, enrollment in the food stamps program was 31.98 million. Now, not even four years later, it's a whopping 46.48 million. (In 2002, as the chart states, "19.1 million Americans received food stamps.")
In fact, the newly released data represents enrollment in July (the last month for which data is available). Assuming the program remained on its projected path, the number of those enrolled in food stamps is likely now larger by several hundreds of thousands.
"USDA has engaged in an aggressive outreach and promotional campaign to boost food stamp enrollment. Among these efforts are an ongoing partnership with the Mexican government to advertise food stamps to Mexican nationals, migrant workers, and non-citizen immigrants. Partly as a result of these efforts, the number of non-citizens on food stamps has quadrupled since 2001," explains the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee.
And the cost, the committee explains, is astronomical. "Total spending on food stamps is projected to reach nearly $800 billion over the next 10 years, with no fewer than 1 in 9 people on the program at any given time. Neither food stamp participation nor spending on the program are ever projected to return to pre-recession levels at any point in the next 10 years."

The Weekly Standard is an American neoconservative opinion magazine published 48 times per year. Its founding publisher, News Corporation, debuted the title September 18, 1995.
Currently edited by founder William Kristol and Fred Barnes, the Standard has been described as a "redoubt of neoconservatism" and as "the neo-con bible".
Since it was founded in 1995, the Weekly Standard has never been profitable, and has remained in business through subsidies from wealthy conservative benefactors such as former owner Rupert Murdoch.

Makes sense why you'd want to double check it...
Though, while the article is about something else here, it brings up the same point...
A record 46.68 million Americans received food stamps in July, the most recent month for which data was available, the government said last week. Monthly spending on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program reached $6.26 billion, also a record and 2.9 percent more than a year earlier. Its cost more than doubled in four years to a record $75.7 billion in the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 2011, and is the department’s biggest annual expense.

LMFAO @ birtherplanet. You're such a fucking dumb ass. The food stamp rolls increased 11,532 in July 2012. The population increased 233,693 in July 2012. So once you adjust for population growth, the food stamp rolls declined in July 2012.
US population:
June 2012:313,799,040
July 2012: 314,032,733
Number on Food Stamp:
Jun 2012 46,670,301
July 2012 46,681,833
YOU FAIL AGAIN BITCH!
Why are so many people on food stamps? Same answer as last month dumb ass.
Only 39,000 jobs added to the private sector from Oct 1998 to Feb 2010.
Private sector employment (thousands)

So, again, you fail to answer a direct question. It's going to be hilarious when Romney wins. I'm sure it'll be because of all those racist americans and not the fact that Obama SUCKS at being in charge.Luminiferous wrote:Oooooo the rolly eyes!!!

No, it's not the working age population. The working age population increased 199,000. So food stamp rolls would have to increase 29,596 to keep pace with the working age population.absolutely fabulous wrote:the food stamp funding increased...
but, population increased, is that the working pop.?
working age population (thousands)
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS10000000
July 2012: 243354
June 2012: 243155
The number on food stamps includes children. It's not only working age people. The correct number is 233,000 which means food stamp rolls would have to increase 34,653 to keep pace with population. So after adjusting for population, food stamp rolls fell by 23,121.
Food stamp funding is only .5% higher than last year.
Benefit costs:
http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/34SNAPmonthly.htm
Oct 2011: 6,235,038,754
July 2012: 6,264,803,508
You can't figure out how to look up the employment level? It increased 873,000 in Sept 2012.absolutely fabulous wrote:what was the figure 400 or 800k now working to make that 7.8 job percentage?
The numbers for food stamps in this post are from July 2012. The employment level fell 195,000 in July 2012. That has nothing to do with the number on food stamps increasing. The employment level is very erratic from month to month.
The employment level increased 3.03 million from June 2011 to June 2012 while number on food stamps increased 1.6 million.
Employment Level (thousands)
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS12000000
June 2011: 139385
July 2012: 142220
Number on Food stamps:
June 2011: 45,183,927
June 2012: 46,670,301
The food stamp rolls continue to rise while unemployment falls. If you're trying to suggest that an increase in food stamp rolls suggests the labor department numbers are cooked you're a fucking imbecile.
The labor market lags the economy and entitlement spending lags the labor market. So after the recession ends, unemployment continues to rise. After unemployment starts to fall, entitlement spending continues to rise. So using an increase in the food stamp rolls as evidence that the economy is getting worse shows a very high level of ignorance. birtherplanet simply announces his stupidity every month with these food stamp threads.

Congress sucks at being in charge too and their approval ratings are worse than Obama's and Romney's. Answer me this, if race really has nothing to do with it, then why does it seem like it's mainly white Republicans who are the ones primarily crying like bitches ever since Obama took office?

So basically, what you're trying to make me understand is that Republicans didn't care as much when Clinton was president as they do for Obama? It's real easy to blame shit on race when you really have no other argument and refuse to look at the real reasons.Tommy2Tone84 wrote:Congress sucks at being in charge too and their approval ratings are worse than Obama's and Romney's. Do you point out the fact that most black people voted for and will vote for Obama is because he's black? But of course, it's not racist when a black person does it, only when a white person does. Apparently black people can't be racist.

For the record, it's all about money. It has nothing to do with race. People want to keep more of the money they earn. I'm one of those people.

No, I remember them whining and crying like a bunch of bitches back then too, they even tried to get the guy impeached over a blowjob. Watching and hearing all that shit back in the 90s was really fucking exhausting but this shit with Obama just takes the fucking cake. It's like a bitch fit X's 1,000.HerveVillechaizeLounge wrote:

They gave Clinton a really hard time but Obama, fuck, they BROKE the fucking country and are know trying to spin it into that Obama somehow did. Mitch "the Bitch" McConnell, from day one, promised that they would do their best to make Obama a one term president. Painting it out that Obama somehow fucked up the country and that he and his party did not is their plan, and dumb fucks like you are eating it up with a spoon.
Bottom line is, you can't turn an economy around on a dime. I know everyone loves to give Reagan credit for doing so in the 80s but that's not exactly how it all went down and the recession that Obama inherited was a fucking woolly mammoth compared to the one that Ford and Carter inherited in the late 70s from Nixon.
I never said black people can't be racist, they can be but at least they have a couple of justifiable reasons for it 1) Slavery 2) Segregation..... white people really have and never had any good goddamn reason to be racist but many of us are and it was one of the founding principles of our country.Do you point out the fact that most black people voted for and will vote for Obama is because he's black? Are you in the upper 1% or just hoping to get there someday and don't want the "democrats" to fuck it up for you when you get there? If you're not in the upper 1% then shut the fuck up because that's who marginal tax rate would get bumped, by a small, piss ant % btw.
For the record, Reagan raised taxes ELEVEN times over the course of his two terms in office.
Did you vote for Bush Sr after he went back on his promise of "no new taxes?"

I also have no contestant in the election, so a bet would be worthless.. I know that whomever wins this election, the American people are going to be the real losers..
A president, a senator and a congressman in Washington no longer work for the American people. They know where their big money can be made..
I know you were answering T2T, but you are correct that some black people have and are going to vote for Obama because of his being black, but in the same turn there are just as many white voters voting for Romney (and McCain in '08) because he's white and they do not like, nor do they want a black man in the White House..HerveVillechaizeLounge wrote:Do you point out the fact that most black people voted for and will vote for Obama is because he's black? theres not enough black people in this country to vote obama in if it was all about race. white people put obama in there but the blacks only voted for him because hes black not his political views. i once heard a black dude i used to work with say "obamas president what i still gotta work fo" and he was not joking.
