The Values Voter Summit is an annual political conference for American social conservative activists and elected officials from across the United States.

Values Voter Summit is hosted by the Family Research Council with numerous conservative organizations sponsoring or otherwise participating

Ron Paul's speech is heavily influenced by Christian Reconstructionism.

Conflating Spheres of Government

Reconstructionists criticize the “conflation” of spheres of government.

In their view, God ordained three separate spheres of human government: family government, church (ecclesiastical) government, and civil government. Each sphere is charged with certain responsibilities and restricted from activities belonging to another sphere: the family is to raise and educate children; the church is to spread the gospel and provide ecclesiastical discipline; and the civil government should do nothing more than punish evildoers and protect property. Looking to the civil government to do anything more (like provide education or a safety net for the poor) is idolatry. Each sphere is independent of the others (so the state is not subject to the church) but all three are under biblical law and “religious” in character.

Theonomy is the view that all law must be based in God’s law, which is to say biblical law. Reconstructionists look to ancient Israel as the model for society.

Ron Paul @ 4:44
"their true king was their God and the guidance from their God. the governing body was the family. And they did not have kings, but they had judges. And that’s what Samuel was. But this was the time there was a shift away from the judges and the family into a king. And I think a lot of that has happened to us in this country. We have too often relied on our king in Washington, and we have to change that."

Ron Paul @ 7:40
"biblically there’s a lot of admonitions about what the family should be in charge of. "

Ron Paul @ 15:38
our right to teach our children and our responsibility to teach our children, whether it’s home schooling or religious school

Ron Paul @ 16:00
There was a time when the Republican Party said that we shouldn’t even have a Department of Education. And I believe it should go back to the family, not the federal government.

Ron Paul @ 18:57
"We have accepted this notion as a country and as a whole that the king will take care of us. But I prefer the different king, the original king, the instruction that comes from our creator, not from our government."

"Biblical Principle of Honesty Money"

Directly from Gary North's book "Honest Money: Biblical Principles for Money and Banking"

The Bible establishes civil laws governing money. These laws rest on a specific theory of money. Theologians do not recognize this. Neither do economists, who would not care even if they did recognize this. Today's monetary policies violate the Bible's laws governing money.

The Bible is clear on three legal principles: (1) monetary debasement is wrong (Isaiah 1:22); (2) multiple indebtedness, which is the basis of fractional reserve banking, must not be allowed (Exodus 22:26) ; (3) weights and measures must not be tampered with (Lev. 19:36). All three are violated by modern economic policy.

Gary North is the son in law of RJ Rushdoony, founder of the Reconstructionist movement.

Ron Paul @ 6:37
"we also had the breakdown of our monetary system, the rejection of the biblical admonition that we have honest weights and measures and honest money. And not to have honest weights and measures meant we were counterfeiting the money"

Ron Paul @ 13:55
"Wars generally lead to inflation, the destruction of money. We don’t honor the biblical principles of honest money".
