No I've never been poor. Sorry. I can't go back on my statement regarding race at least in Chicago. I see too much black on black crime between too many kids where there's no father around. There's a reason Jackson lives here. There some profitable exploitin' to be had here.

Two of the girls in one family have 4 kids each... Different fathers and have had to dump them on grandma because they can't stay out of jail for violating their probation every few years.. Now their kids are getting knocked up at 15-16 because they won't obey grandma..

Two other females have 3 kids apiece, never married and suck up every bit of food stamps and help the government will hand them, including housing and still find time to hit the casinos a couple of times a week..

Another female cousin and her boyfriend tied up and pistol whipped some elderly lady in her home back in 1996. Stole her cash, credit cards, everything they could fit into her car and stole her car.. Served 16 years for it, smoking like a fucking chimney the whole time in prison, taking advantage of my mother's love for her sister (the bitch's mom who passed away while she was serving time) and begged for $10 a month to survive. They released her and she suffers from emphysema from her years of smoking, on oxygen and somehow got social security and is next in line for a lung transplant..
All that assistance for a bitch who hasn't done a good thing in her 56 years on this earth..

Two different males cousins have 2 kids and 3 kids respectively with ex-girlfriends.. Both are deadbeats and always seem to find some ailment that doesn't allow them to hold full time employment and get some sort of disability benefit from the government tit..
Fortunately they buy and sell enough firearms to good old Republican boys in their area and prescription drugs to pay for their fish bait, hunting licenses, cigarettes and gas for their large V8 4x4's..

I haven't seen or spoke to any of them all in 15-16 years since my grandmother's funeral.. Got tired of the asking me for a loan or something else free.. My parents give me updates on them and it's fucking nuts how these pieces of shit qualify for the handouts they get.. Total wastes of human flesh.

I don't see the family decay as a black or white thing. Black on black crime is a significant issue plaguing many commuities at alarming rates but as others have said there are cultural issues across the board.

I think our welfare progams and new culture are in fact harmful to families instead of helping them. Everyone here knows people that are in that cycle of generation after generation that seems to get in deeper and deeper as time goes on. I know kids that I sadly know have such a slim chance to actally succeed and change the family tree because of their environment. Hard work, education, integrity and many other qualities just aren't at the forefront of these kids upbringing. So many kids just don't have much of a chance from the start. Welfare is increasing but those problems are worsening. This is in no way to say that many don't need aid of various types. Some need that aid permantly and some temporarily but the scale has tipped too far and too many don't have self reliance.

The problem isn't even just government welfare as there are nearly always enablers out there that think they are helping someone by always bailing them out. Until those dynamics change, the family will continue to decay.

Yep, I'm somewhat surprised the percentages aren't worse in terms of those that break the cycle. That said, growing up in poverty isn't the most significant thing, its the overall environment. There are poor kids in messed up families and those with a lot better functioning families. The kids in the stronger families have a lot better chance of breaking out than those in broken families. Just like the kid in the wealthy family thats dysfunctional that you know will end up in jail somewhere. It's all about the environment.

I don't really have an answer on how to fix that in today's society.
