No shots left for my kids- who is to blame ??

Everybody knew that vaccine was going to be tough to come by. I can't get it for my kids either. Hell, my kid's pediatrician didn't even have any regular flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago. She said out of her office's 1000 or so patients she only got 60 (yes, 60) doses of H1N1. No idea who's to blame for that one though. It was common knowledge last spring that a serious outbreak would be here this fall and winter. I agree, the feds should have had ample time. I'd like to hear the reasoning for the shortage. People are dying from that shit.

I like how we went from potentially MANDATORY vaccinations to not having enough even for children.

I think making this a partisan issue is just wrong. It isn't a partisan issue. It probably isn't even a failing on the part of government. It probably has more to do with the science, but I'd really like to hear a definitive answer as to why it's so tough to come by. It's starting to get rampant where I live. Both of my bass player's kids have had it, one of them was hospitalized. They're both gonna be fine thank God, but it's a little disconcerting seeing it that close to home and knowing there's a vaccine for it that I can't get for my own kids.

I had to sit in an ER waiting room for an hour the other night, amongst the absolute dreck of society. I figured I'd walk out of that place with the swine flu, AIDS, avian bird flu, polio, and scurvy.

I was one of those tools with a surgical mask on.

I read another article that said something about the cultures being much harder to grow than they'd anticipated. Maybe it's a vast conspiracy.

Forgive me, as I hail from a land of socialised medicine, but I don't understand something.

Over here we have a shortage too, but I guess we can blame the government on this one because they are ultimately responsible for the operational capacity of the National Health Service. The NHS is entirely accountable to government, ergo we moan at government.

However, in a land where health is almost entirely privatised, we now have this twat adam moaning because he can't get flu vaccines for his family? Well, Mr. Capitalism, with your thriving landscaping business I thought you'd be paying top dollar for a wicked cool health plan that provides H1N1 vaccines in three different flavours - stawberry, banana or choca-mocha. Correct me if I'm wrong but if your health is in the hands of private enterprise, you should be blaming private enterprise for their lack of foresight and inability to source sufficient amounts of the flu vaccine in a timely fashion.

I have asthma and work at CDC and i cant get a shot.
