I don't mean that the entire party is racist. I definitely over-generalized on the idiocy and racism factor. The reason I backed the underdog in this discussion is because the organization seems to me, to inordinately attract a large number of uninformed big-mouths who give them this reputation. I'm sure the people running it have legitimate reasons for doing so, and the tea Party at it's core seems like more of a fiscally conservative revolt within the Republican party then a purely anti-Obama organization.

However, I don't wish to completely concede legitimacy to the party, since I'm not sure if I understand exactly what they're about, and I don't think it's racist in substance as much as it may seem on the surface. After all, they're no fans of John McCain either, which has resulted in him posturing as a more fiscally conservative politician than his record bears out. This much I know for sure. I just think that a lot of racists in the country are jumping on it and giving themselves a bullhorn.
