I vote, and thoroughly believe that it's the right thing to do, even if you spoil your ballot. The struggle for enfranchisement has a long and bloody history. Coatsy, I think you're a jerk for a number of reasons, but surely the immense struggle of the Chartists, some of whom died for the cause, means that you can be arsed to put a cross in a box every four years?

As for who I'm voting for - I won't disclose, a privilege afforded to me by the 1872 Ballot Act.

i have voted in the past, but quicky came to the conclusion that all politicians are corrupt cunts, as the expenses scandal proved. we live in a democracy, i exercise my democratic right not to vote. fair play to people who do choose to vote.

It proved nothing, except that a minority of MPs couldn't account properly, and that an even smaller minority are, as you say, corrupt. Do you actually enjoy being conned by the bullshit? You don't see that the media will constantly regurgitate the most sensational aspects of the whole charade in lieu of publishing the less salacious stories of MPs who do their jobs well and stand up for their community? The majority of MPs aren't corrupt and furthermore, go into politics for the right reasons. You are not omniscient, otherwise you may actually gain some insight into what being a good constituency politician is like.

However, you're more than happy to throw away your hard-won vote over a few expenses claims. Fine. I imagine in real life you're probably alright - but judging solely by your posts on Sludge, you're an absolute cunt.

See how that works?

So, who watched the debate tonight? I'm surprised Nick Clegg came across as well as he did. If he keeps this up in the next two debates, the Lib Dems could cause a major upset come May 6th.

Yup...thought Clegg did well. Cameron was a shambles.

I dont like the idea of these televised debates though...again with us and the need to follow the Americans in everything they do

I think you've got just a little way more before you reach our level of spectacle, so rest easy for a bit.
