You're right, what a terrible idea the E.U. is!! Centuries of intra-continental warfare is far preferable.

Do you ever engage your brain before you open your mouth?

Considering the EU is primarily an economic treaty organization and has had fuck-all to do with military relations until 2004 and NATO has been and continues to be the primary defense strategy for the majority of Europe since the second World War, maybe you should engage yours.

You make some good points, but so does Ugmo. Fact is that the European powers blew their wads in the two World Wars and especially after WWII, were deprived of their empires, which were grist for their warmaking mills.

At this point they all need to conserve what they have, and warfare doesn't make much sense over the ever-dwindling European pie. The way today's world is, they really can't go elsewhere for them either. So they are forced by events into cooperation, and if they maintain their commitment in hard times, they'll pass the test.

You have to be fucking kidding me. The E.U. countries' close economic ties are the number one factor in their harmonious relations between one another. It's not like the only thing keeping them from attacking one another is NATO. Dipshit.

Jesus, you really didn't go to school, did you?

Fugmo, you just said that the reason that the countries of Europe didn't attack each other was because of the EU. Now I want you to think real hard about that. Think real hard about when the modern EU was formed. Think real hard about what political affiliation the Warsaw Pact was until 1990. Think real hard about whether economic relations and interests just magically appeared after WWII or not. Think real hard about Europe's military alliance after WWII and why that might be the reason they didn't attack each other.

You might have to do a little research, so take your time.
