MSNBC Trashes Obama's Address: Compared To Carter,
"I Don't Sense Executive Command"

Real Clear Politics / June 15, 2010

(Watch video here)

Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman react to President Obama's Oval Office Address on the oil spill. Here are the highlights of what the trio said:

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

Matthews: "I don't sense executive command."

Believe it or not, they trash him all the time. Soft compared to how they brutalized Bush, but they certainly have not given him a free pass with much.

Olbermann has devoted a few of his "Special Comments" to Obama, threatening it is just a matter of time before Bush's War becomes his war and blah blah.

The fact that MSNBC is trashing him must mean he's doing a pretty good job, right?

from http://twitter.com/keitholbermann:

RT@jawillie: "Tweet of the Day" should be interesting tonight. Will he feature a tweet critical of his response last night?

Olbermann: "I will say, more or less: this is easily the smartest political leader I have ever seen, as good a political public speaker as I've heard + last October I was privileged along with 11 other newspeople to spend 2 hours with him as he showed extemporaneous mastery of every one of two dozen topics fired at him by us in random order. I left the room wondering if we had ever before actually elected a president who was one of the 1,000 smartest people in the country (or maybe 100 or 10) as we had now. I believe in him and in his presidency and he has frequently achieved success (in health care reform, particularly) by doing that for which I criticized him. I hope that is again the case now because the Gulf Speech was not up to his standards nor did it express his mastery of policy. And if you will stop watching because I said this, I'll be very sorry, but you will have been watching for the wrong reason. I am not, have not been and will not be any politician's, nor any president's, spokesman."

It's almost like Olderwoman was jacking off while he typed that.

I was listening to the radio today and they had someone on who said something to the effect of this:

All people are interested in right now is getting this leak stopped. People are worried that the ocean is being poisoned and that there's no end in sight. The Presidient kept talking about 20 billion dollars and keeping BP accountable but didn't say anything to ease fears from everyday people throughout North America (and beyond) that this leak is going to get capped anytime soon.

That's the real problem most people have with the current situation. Forget the money for now, just stop the damn leak!

haha...well...you know.

Though, I don't think it's an insult as both are truly cut from the same cloth.

I wonder if this is the most enchanting part of his 2nd year in office. Hell, he's 20billion richer....my guess is yes.

I like how you pop in here, say something completely retarded, and then fade out like a bad fart. How is Obama $20 billion richer?

Oh, I get it, you're trying to be clever and subtle by implying that the BP fund money is his personal playground. Smooth, man, smooth!
