I think it's pretty ironic that the very same people that spout the "smaller government" line have decided to make something as retarded as this the government's business.

Weve been over this before many times.

I don't see how any intelligent adult can be opposed to giving gay people their constitutionally protected civil rights. There's not a single justification for outlawing gay marriage that makes any legal, constitutional, or logical sense.

So you're saying Obama is not an intelligent adult? Great! Good to see we're on the same page.

Obama: :"You know, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman"
I missed the part where he plans on outlawing gay marriage at the Federal level.
This is what Obama actually said, as opposed to your amateurish attempt at spin:
No. I still think that these are decisions that need to be made at a state and local level. I'm a strong supporter of civil unions. And I think that, you know, we're involved in a national conversation about this issue.

You know, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, but I also think that same-sex partners should be able to visit each other in hospitals, they should be able to transfer property, they should be able to get the same federal rights and benefits that are conferred onto married couples.

And so, you know, as president, my job is to make sure that the federal government is not discriminating and that we maintain the federal government's historic role in not meddling with what states are doing when it comes to marriage law. That's what I'll do as president.
He's keeping Uncle Sam's nose out of states affairs. Isn't that what Republicans want?

You couldn't get past the cover of a Sally, Dick and Jane book, let alone be on the same page as anyone.

Exactly. In fact, why not just burn them all? I'm sure that'll make 'them' go away forever.

Why bring up Obama?

Yes, I know Obama is against Gay Marriage. I don't understand how any intelligent adult, including him, could oppose it.

In fact, I don't believe he's really that stupid. He knows that coming out in favor of Gay marriage creates a wedge issue that costs him votes. Sure, that's lame, but I can understand it.

Doesn't change my opinion. I do not understand how an intelligent adult can be opposed to gay marriage. Obama's "opinion" has no bearing on that.

I do, however, understand how really stupid, or bigoted, people can be opposed to gay marriage.

Marriage is very bizarre. It must go back to when we were tribes living in villages and the marriage ceremony sealed the two together forever in the eyes of the others. Of course there's the religious horse shit they put in there and that goes back a long ways. It's just so funny how important it is to us to show everyone that we are a union.

Great, all you did was repeat exactly what I already said. Obama, personally, believes that marriage is between a man and a woman.

enter your username wrote:You don't know what he personally believes dunce cap. You're quoting a Presidential candidate not someone expressing a personal belief.

This is what he said about the issue in 1996:

1996: In response to a questionnaire from Outlines newspaper (now part of Windy City Times), Obama, a candidate for the Illinois state senate seat representing the wealthy Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, writes, “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages." Eight years later, in a letter to Windy City Times, Obama would say that he opposed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) of 1996, calling it “an effort to demonize people for political advantage” that should be repealed...
Then neither do YOU! You're quoting a Community Organizer, and a candidate for the senate, not someone expressing a personal belief. I posted a link saying he's against it, you posted one where he's for it, so we should be able to agree, Ruler Obama is full of shit!

Your quote didn't say he was against it. Stating that marriage is between a man and a woman isn't equivalent to opposing gay marriage. You are misreading that quote. In the full quote he says it should be decided by the states which means he supports a state's decision to legalize gay marriage. That means he is not opposed to it.
Do you even read what you type before you hit submit?

Why do retards like you want everything to be a referendum on Obama?

If Obama really holds a deep personal belief that gay marriage is wrong, then yes, he's a retard. Just like you.

Only bigots, morons, retards, or political panderers are opposed to gay marriage.

Have you actually ever considered reading what somebody types before you get your ass in the butthurt position? Where, I repeat, where, did I say I was opposed, or for, anything?
