They did what needed to be done in a free society: they exposed information that was kept secret by our government that had no business being kept secret by our government. And the details of their respective personalities are inconsequential to their roles in leaking this information.
If you want a good overview of Manning, Assange, and Wikileaks, I suggest you read Glenn Greenwald's columns for Salon.com. Even though he's a pillow-biter, I trust Glenn Greenwald's character more than my entire family's.
