I don't know. Quayle didn't stop Bush from winning the first time and even though Palin was a joke, there was no way McCain was going to beat Obama.


The one thing the dems got going now is their ability to attack Ryan on a budget proposal that cut funding for health care.

The problem with Ryan is he doesn't expand the GOP base any and that's what they need! He just doubles down on the crazy right wing nuts in the GOP!

I don't know enough about Ryan yet, but if you're right it just seems like more of the same more of the same more of the same.

I'm so sick of all of this shit... Obama doesn't deserve a second term and Romney doesn't deserve a first term.

Ryan is a good politician with real ideas who actually has a plan, like it or not. This is a bad pick for Romney though because of how his opponents will be able to distort his policy proposals. A Paul Ryan look alike will be throwing grandma over the cliff on a loop on tv from now until the election.

The Huffington Post actually said late last night that Portman was Romney's choice for VP!

Yes, I think Rubio would have been the best pick politically. Having watched enough of Ryan today, I think he will only help the ticket, despite the ads that are forthcoming against him.

In theory, perhaps. This might draw the small handful of TPers that were going to vote for Johnson back into the republican tent but I think they would have ended up there anyway. What this choice DOES is gives the republican ticket somebody way more charismatic than Mitt.

But yeah. It really was Mitt caving in to the far far right. He didn't need to cement the loony vote, he already has it in pocket.

Exactly! It still stuns me how anyone can pick a side nowadays, and anyone who is picking a side doesn't seem to realize they're just a pawn in this game.
