THere are countless stats that say we are not better off.
Median income 54k to 50k, gas has doubled from 1.82 to over 3.70, unemployment higher, and sooo many more regulations that have made my own business much more difficult and time consuming to undertake.
Recent gallup poll 69% of americans think we are on wrong path.
Biggest thing Obama has going for him is that hes a nice guy.....which means NOTHING to me.

First of all what could have been done to make everything "better?" That's a serious question and if you don't have an answer you should probably shut the fuck up instead of complaining. Do/did you really think that everything would be perfect 3 and a half years after the fuckstorm republican policies put us in and that the Obama administration would fix it all? Do you think it would be fixed by now if McCain/Palin (shudder) had won the election?UncleMilton wrote:THere are countless stats that say we are not better off.

Here's something he could have done that he did not do. When Obama gave his State of the Union address this past January he said this... No American company should be able to avoid paying its fair share of taxes by moving jobs and profits overseas. (Applause.) From now on, every multinational company should have to pay a basic minimum tax. And every penny should go towards lowering taxes for companies that choose to stay here and hire here in America.KneelandBobDylan wrote:First of all what could have been done to make everything "better?" Nice speech. I was really glad he said it. Thought if he tried to do this, even if he failed because of the congress, it would be such a step in the right direction I could see myself supporting the guy like I did his first two years as president...
He hasn't done a single thing to make it happen. Nothing.
Fuck Obama!

I'm NPA and tend to vote Lib, so I don't really have a dog in the Obama/Romney hunt - this is just my personal observation. We're definitely worse off now than we were in 2008. Our petsitting business is down around 50%... overall numbers had increased yearly since starting in '97, but began dropping significantly in '09. It's come up a little so far this year, but not by much.
I consider the service we provide to be a very good barometer for how people are doing financially. When our clients are economically sound, they can afford to travel and hire us. You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to understand what it means when those who've taken summer vacations for years are now unable to do so.
Outside of our own woes, I can think of at least a dozen long-long-long-term businesses that have shuttered in the last couple years. Some had been around since I was a little kid (born in '71, third-gen Orlando native). Doesn't mean the sky is falling, but it sure as shit ain't rainin' lollipops these days.
