Obama Convention Bounce Looking Less Likely

Ahead of the Democratic National Convention, Obama officials tried to damp expectations for a bounce in the polls for President Barack Obama. That way, if he gets one, great; if he doesn’t, well then they never expected it anyway. Me: They're Pathetic.

Friday’s disappointing jobs report, coming just hours after the convention concluded, adds another wrinkle.

A senior administration official said Friday that it is too early to know whether the report will impact any bounce in the polls that Mr. Obama may have had coming. But he said it doesn’t help that the report of 96,000 new jobs in August came in below what economists had expected.

“We will see. It is too early to know for sure,” the official told reporters en route to Portsmouth, N.H., where Mr. Obama held his first post-convention rally. “I think it reminds people of what they already know: the economy is healing but too slowly, and there will be some focus that the job production is a little off expectations.”

But he added, “Even back in January, February, March where we were producing 200,000 plus jobs [per month], the American people weren’t doing celebratory dances.”

White House senior adviser David Plouffe said Friday that he expects that after polls settle over the coming days, the race will probably wind up about where it was heading into the convention.

“Our belief is we entered the convention with a small but important lead in most of those battleground states. We’ll see where we are at the end of next week,” he said. “But our suspicion is the race is going to be about where it was. And that’s a problem for Mitt Romney.”

He said that the Obama camp believes they came out of their convention with momentum. “That doesn’t mean the race is going to change significantly,” he added. He said it may have helped in particular their efforts to turn supporters out.

In national polls, Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney remain very close, with the Real Clear Politics average of polls putting Mr. Obama ahead by less than a percentage point.

The GOP got a small bounce after the convention ranging from 2 to 6 points depending on the poll. The DNC should expect to receive about the same. The days of a 10 point post convention bump are long gone.

LMFAO, disappointing to you since it shows the economy added 2 million private sector jobs this past year. Once again, the monthly jobs report shows that you are wrong about the economy still being in recession.

Private sector employment:
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001
July 2011: 109426
July 2012: 111400 == 1.974 private sector jobs added in 12 months.

Contrast that with Bush's first term where private sector employment contracted by 900K:

Jan 2001: 111631
Jan 2005: 110718 === 900K private sector jobs lost during Bush's first term (they called it "The Bush Boom").

LMFAO, fucking priceless. The poll was taken between Aug 31 and Sept 6. Obama spoke last night, Sept 6. The impact of his speech was not even polled. About half of the respondents answered before the Convention even started.

You have to wait till next Friday to see whether the convention gave him a bounce. The 7 day tracking poll starting Sept 7 (today) will determine whether or not there is a bounce.

Graphs and polls is a big boy game. You're a little boy. You failed miserably.

You fucking imbecile.. Did you even read the page you linked? You linked to a page that said Romney got no bounce, not that Obama got no bounce.

You're too stupid to even read the pages you link to. Nobody expects you to read a post before responding to it. But since you want a graph, here you go asswipe:

Joey, why would you contrast anything with Bush when we almost all pretty much agree that he was a jackass?

So you use Bush, setting the bar so low it hits the floor in order to make Obama look good? That's like saying if Obama was a rapist he wouldn't be so bad because he only raped two women instead of three.

Go compare Obama to a competent President like Clinton and see where that gets you.
