Luminiferous wrote:A couple of questions since many of you have very strong beliefs in the Republican party and I was curious about a few things regarding the upcoming election.
First of all, what do you admire about or view as your reasons for supporting the party?
Politifact has been having a heyday with some of Romney and Ryan's claims and skewering them for their half truths or no truth at all and I was wondering if it has any effect on how you view the candidates?
Or since most all politicians stretch the truth in attempts to get elected/re-elected, that their comments are just part of the political game and you can ignore them?
Also do you think that the candidates actually care about bi-partisanship and would actually attempt to work with the other side?
Also, do you feel you've heard enough of Romney's plans if he is elected that he can turn the country around, fix the economy (and NOT raise taxes on anyone, but by merely closing loopholes,) and get 12 million people employed?
Do you think America has gotten soft under the current administration and Obama has weakened the view of the US as a "Don't fuck with us" nation or do you think that we are still viewed as the sleeping lion and Obama would step into another war if pushed?
Do you think more military spending and cutbacks on other things are the answer and a step in the right direction?
Do you feel Romney has enough experience in doing so and can do this in four years or will he have to "fix what Obama broke" first?
Honest answer please: Are you voting for Romney for the mere reason that you do not like Obama and want no Democrat near the White House?
Do you think that Fox News is actually fair and balanced and there is an actual concern for all citizens of America?
Do you feel there is a liberal media agenda against the Republican party?
This is a chance to tell your side/views of the GOP choice for president Mitt Romney and why you will likely cast your vote for him for the rest of the War Boarders..
For those less eloquent/lazy you may use the excuse of "I don't care for him, but he's better'n Obama")
I'm not right wing but I am a registered republican
-For about the last eighteen years, there hasn't been much to admire about my party. I think they've mostly lost their fucking minds but I'm beginning to question that they may have never been in their right minds to begin with. To be blunt, the moderates of the party, guys like Eisenhower and Ford have either died off or tucked balls and run. I can't relate to guys like Newt, Mitch McConnell, Ryan, Romney and guys like that.
-Politifact nails the fuck out of Ryan. He is a HUGE bullshit artist. Romney isn't quite as bad. They nail the President and VP on more than a few things too but you don't really need Politifact to find out that Romney talks out of both sides of his ass, often.
-I don't think the Tea Party wants a fucking thing to do with bipartisanship and since they run Congress(THANK YOU FOR THAT AMERICA) shit is sort of fucked right now. Perhaps Obama could have been better at massaging their egos the way Clinton did back in the 90s but W.'s administration wasn't about massaging Democrat's egos so why should Obama's have to return the favor?
-The only way I see gridlock in Washington stopping is if the Tea Party get voted out of Congress and Moderate Republicans grow some balls and take their party back or the American people discover the error of their ways and vote the Democrats back into Congress. Congress has stonewalled the fuck out of the Obama administration, they also know what needs to get done and if Romney gets elected they will do it for him. Also, while the Democrat majority in the House under Reagan may have given him a hard time, they didn't stone wall the fuck out of him. BIG difference. Reagan also was beyond moderate in many ways, even though Fox News and a whole bunch of other bullshit artists try and claim differently. Although Reagan perpetuated that whole image of himself as a "tough Conservative" To this day, my dad thinks Reagan balanced the budget, cut taxes across the board and never raised taxes once. I literally had to show him that wasn't true.
-I don't think America has gotten soft at all. If fact, Obama said he would close Guantanamo when campaigning in 2008 and never did once he got into office. He also didn't repeal the Patriot Act, which I think he was threatening to do in 2008 as well. No, Obama's foreign policy has closely mirrored the Neo-Cons, however I find him to be a little better of a leader when it comes to foreign policy than either W. or Clinton, both of whom were pretty dreadful. Obama's not perfect but he's better than those two and probably has to deal with bullshit right now that you and I can't even imagine.
-If we need to make huge cuts in spending then yeah, all THREE Big Ticket items need to go on the chopping block, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid and the Military, those are the Big 3 and what is costing us so much money. But it's unlikely that will happen, and actually not very realistic unless somebody pulls a rabbit out of their ass soon. I guess we can always just shit on the poor, since they appear to not pay any income tax and are somehow living in Fat City in all of this. I'm not sure what % of GDP foodstamps and welfare are but from what I've read it's nowhere near the three big ticket items I previously mentioned.
-I can't say I agree that Obama broke anything. What I don't agree with Obama doing is putting in place his health care bill. He should have saved that for a second term once it was clear the economy was positively back on track, so it wasn't a tool his political foes could use against him, even if his biggest critic currently passed it into law at the state level while he was governor of Massachusetts.
And NO, I don't think Romney can fix a bunch of shit in 4 years, just like Obama said he was going to fix a bunch of shit in 4 years and didn't and just like Reagan said he was going to fix a bunch of shit in 4 years and didn't. Same thing with Clinton, both had real rocky first terms but their flock of sheep really know how to serve the Kool Aid and I have to admit, both were excellent salesmen.
-I'm not voting for Romney. I will vote Republican again, once the Tea Party is pushed off a cliff and back into the deep abyss in the special pit of hell from which they came.
-FUCK NO! I watched Fox News for years, there is no one better to tell you that a company sucks and is full of shit that a former customer. Honestly, I'm more concerned with just how much Fox News appears to have brainwashed the fuck out of the American People. I'm ashamed to admit I use to think Bill O'Reilly was the real deal back in the 90s. But I never did like Sean Hannity, I always thought that guy was an asshole. I'm not sure why I liked Bill, I think he reminded me of my dad.
-No there isn't much of a liberal bias in the media at all these days. 40 years ago, during the Vietnam War, okay, I can see a strong argument for that but over the last 25-30 years? Fuck no, not even! If anything, there is a conservative bias in the media.
-Reasons why I won't vote for Mitt:
#1-Implemented government run health care at the State level but in the debates last week called Obamacare a "hostile government takeover" Everybody agrees, including the guy who held Romney and Obama's hands through the process that Romneycare and Obamacare are virtually the same thing, so I fail to see how it's some big, government take over at the Federal level but not at the State level, a government take over is a government take over
#2-I have a difficult time reconciling how Romney and other conservatives are always bragging on and on about how they want to stay the fuck out of the American people's personal lives and business but when it comes to women and their vagina's, somehow these assholes all have an opinion and bill at the ready to be turned into law telling women what to do. Same with gay marriage, let Ellen and that hot piece of ass Portia De Rossi get married, let Elton and his boyfriend get married, it certainly isn't impeding on my personal freedoms if they do. The hypocrisy factor by the conservatives here is mind numbing.
#3-I think Paul Ryan is a douche bag
#4-Romney's 47% comments on that tape were pretty fucked up
#5-Came off as a real uppity, rich dick in both Presidential debates
#6-Doesn't really seem like he has a soul, maybe that's a error in judgment on my end but more than anything, it seems like he just wants to lower taxes for the upper 1% as much as possible while the rest of the country gets to fight over the table scraps.
