Obamanomics
How many of you are paying more in taxes now than you did in 2008? How many of you make more than 250k a year? How many of you are paying higher insurance premiums? How much more of your paycheck disappears before you see it than it did 5 years ago ? Are you better or worse off?

Not a significant amount.ow many of you are paying higher insurance premiums?
A few percent more. How much more of your paycheck disappears before you see it than it did 5 years ago ?

I'm a full-time student now.How many of you are paying more in taxes now than you did in 2008?
Not even close. How many of you make more than 250k a year?
I am un-insured. I'm lucky enough to be good friends with clinicians of different disciplines and I've been getting by on the power of social capital for about a year now.How many of you are paying higher insurance premiums?
I'd have to ask my old man. We bank separately and I've never looked at his paystubs. I do know he's making a shit ton more money than he was 5 years ago, though. How much more of your paycheck disappears before you see it than it did 5 years ago ?
Much better time and resource wise, forced to make smarter decisions financially. Are you better or worse off?

Re: Obamanomics
I don't know what the tax brackets are but I know I am making more money than I was in 2008. But I am also getting back MUCH more on my refund this year than I have in previous years.bane wrote:How many of you are paying more in taxes now than you did in 2008?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh my. That's funny. How many of you make more than 250k a year?
A bit more, co payments also went up. But to be fair, they were also raised significantly several years before Obama was elected. My insurance is STILL cheaper than what I would pay at a private hospital. How many of you are paying higher insurance premiums?
This is hard to answer as I have sooo much coming out of my check pre tax that I didn't used to. I now pay for short term disability, a flex spending account, and I have increased my life insurance and disability insurances. How much more of your paycheck disappears before you see it than it did 5 years ago ?
Over all better. Are you better or worse off?

Re: Obamanomics
Today, I'm actually paying about the same in taxes as I did in 2008. You know whats funny? I paid MORE in 2009 and 2010 since that is when my sales acutally came through.bane wrote:How many of you are paying more in taxes now than you did in 2008? $250,000 in THIS economy? Socialist please!
Higher insurance? Yeah, check to the motherfucking mark.
Like all American idiots, I have no idea whats being taken out of my check. Who can keep track? I've done bad enough over the last four years that it hasn't changed much. Actually LESS is being taken out of my check. Can anyone tell me why that is NOT a good thing?
Am I better or worse off than I was five years ago? I go with worse. At least five years ago, my clients were willing to consider betting on the future, now.... Well, lets let Steve Wynn explain it for me.
Casino mogul Steve Wynn voted for President Barack Obama in 2008, but is disgusted with his performance in office.
Obama inherited huge economic problems, but he erred by not focusing on jobs and the budget deficit, the Wynn Resorts CEO told KSNV TV in Las Vegas.
As for the deficit, Obama showed a clear understanding of the problem when running for office, Wynn says. But then Obama did nothing to solve it after he was elected, exacerbating our woes.
On the employment front, “the only thing screaming across the sky was jobs,” when Obama took office, Wynn says. “We were headed for huge unemployment. There wasn’t anything more stark than the need to focus on jobs.” Healthcare should have been priority number 10, Wynn says. “Obama turned his back on the No. 1 priority.”
Wynn knows something about job creation. “I've created about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs . . . That's exactly 250,000 more than this president, who I'll be damned if I want to have him lecture me about small business and jobs. I'm a job creator. Guys like me are job creators, and we don't like having a bulls-eye painted on our back.”
Obama is playing class warfare by “deprecating and calling a group that makes money 'billionaires and millionaires who don't pay their share,'” Wynn said. “I gave 120 percent of my salary and bonus away last year to charities, as I do most years. I can't stand the idea of being put down by a president who has never created any jobs and who doesn't even understand how the economy works.”

I remember you saying that your business took a hard hit during the recession - I'm honestly just curious.

I represent factories to the hospitality industry, selling mostly Furniture through design firms. Sometimes I sell directly to large properties. Steve Wynn has always been one of my biggest customers. His rant is the #1 reason I'm so butt hurt about another 4 years of Obama.Stoner wrote:tyla, what do you do for a living or what industry do you work in?

Wynn, who is a life long democrat and even went to the white house as an advisor, has stated he ain't expanding shit while the policies are what they are. He ain't lying. Between 04 and 08 I did about 17 million with him. Last 5 years, not even a million.
I know guys who have been doing this for 30 years and are some of the most trusted names in the industry and are just walking away. These are guys who had million dollar + years since the 80s.
