And yet Obama has racked up about 3 times the amount of debt that Reagan did in just over 4 years.KneelandBobDylan wrote:

Of course I will assume the childish response--it's all the fault of George Bush....

I know to the conservative mind facts are "childish." It must be nice to live in a reality of your own making where the bills of a former president are somehow, magically, the fault of the present President.Sheep_Mafia wrote:And yet Obama has racked up about 3 times the amount of debt that Reagan did in just over 4 years.KneelandBobDylan wrote:

I'm sure it was Obama's fault, I mean Republican Presidents ALWAYS balance the budget when they are in office. Oh right, that hasn't happened since Eisenhower.
It does strike me funny how all of these conservative debt/deficit hawks only come to roost when it's a Democratic President.
Crazy how it always works out like that.

More TRUTH the Obama Cheerleaders can't bear to read/hear.
After all, Obama's a Democrat. And to Democrats, this means he gets a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card that enables him and his supporters to take NO responsibility for ANYTHING they've done...

Re: Ronald Reagan warns us of Obama...
"Since 1981, Ronald Reagan and the Republican Party have given us skyrocketing deficits, and astoundingly a doubled national debt. How is it that the party of balanced budgets, with control of the White House and Senate, accumulated red ink greater than all previous administrations put together? ... There is no credibility left for the Republican Party as a force to reduce the size of government. That is the message of the Reagan years."
Reagan is "a dramatic failure" and "Reagan's record is disgraceful. He starts wars, breaks the law, supplies terrorists with guns made at taxpayers' expense and lies about it to the American people."

Source your ignorance Luminiferous. I'll show you how to properly quote someone...
Obama on Reagan:
"I don’t want to present myself as some sort of singular figure. I think part of what’s different are the times. I do think that, for example, the 1980 election was different. I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that, you know, Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not."
"He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like, you know, with all the excesses of the 60s and the 70s, and government had grown and grown, but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people just tapped into -- he tapped into what people were already feeling, which was, we want clarity, we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing."
http://www.nytimes.com/ref/us/politics/ ... -text.html
Even Obama gets it with Reagan. As did all the other liberals that voted for Reagan in droves. Too bad he now thinks that what he should be tapping into are people's desire to get welfare and have the government play a larger role in their lives.

It worked. Think about that as you picture me buying New York strip and filet Mignon with my food stamps.Sheep_Mafia wrote:Too bad he now thinks that what he should be tapping into are people's desire to get welfare and have the government play a larger role in their lives.
I've asked this question but you never seem to answer it. I'm sure it's because you've overlooked them, not because you're a spineless, dodging bitch. Answer this:
What is success and how do you measure this success?
Keep this in mind:

I skipped it because it's a stupid baiting question that based on your even asking I doubt you will get. Success means a lot of things, with few being financial. For the basis of many of our discussions here which center around who is paying taxes, it leans towards finances as the definition. That's clearly in the context of what we are discussing here often.Danzig in the Dark wrote:It worked. Overall, it means many, many things. I have known and have a great deal of respect and admiration for some individuals that have obstacles and challenges that most don't have who have got knocked down continuously and keep on giving everything they got to better themselves. Because of circumstance, they may not have the financial means that others do but they are still as successful as anyone I know. On the other hand, I know some wealthy folk that on balance outside of that, aren't that successful in other areas. There are a lot of areas that are important to the success or failure of one's life than financial. Again, we are focusing on financial aspects here. I could also talk about parenting, substance abuse, health, how you treat others and a number of other things that make up whether someone is successful.
So it's not some simplistic answer that you can give to a 6 year old or much less the average Sludger like yourself and get a 100% success rate of understanding. That said, if I am explaining the concept to a 6 year old, I'd tell them that there are winners and losers in various aspects of life. Not everyone gets a trophy. The key is that they keep working towards improving themselves and get to whatever ceiling they may have. Don't make excuses and don't blame others--just keep going.

God bless Ronald Reagan. He was the best president of my lifetime. He ended the cold war. He also launched a successful one-night bombing raid on Libya. We didn't hear a peep out of that tyrant Muammar Gaddafi for 20-some years.

Maybe you should explain this to all those Republicans who insist the government is holding them back from greater success.Sheep_Mafia wrote:I skipped it because it's a stupid baiting question that based on your even asking I doubt you will get. Re: Ronald Reagan warns us of Obama...
LMFAO, you should have told that to Bush in 92. At the 1992 GOP convention he gave credit to both parties and the American people. Reagan ending the cold war is something Fox News came up with in the late 90s. Nobody gave Reagan credit when the Berlin wall fell.jay city roller wrote:God bless Ronald Reagan. Well, make no mistake: The demise of communism wasn't a sure thing. It took the strong leadership of Presidents from both parties, including Republicans like Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. Without their vision and the support of the American people, the Soviet Union would be a strong superpower today, and we'd be facing a nuclear threat tonight.

LMFAO, that was a disaster. They killed a few babies and did no real damage to the country.jay city roller wrote:He also launched a successful one-night bombing raid on Libya.
Apparently you were too young to remember the Lockerbie bombing which happened two years after the 86 Libya attack. Gaddafi ordered the bombing which killed all 250 passengers and crew. He compensated the victims in 2003. Gaddafi started to behave when Bush invaded Iraq. From 86 to 2003, he was funding terrorist attacks against the West.jay city roller wrote:We didn't hear a peep out of that tyrant Muammar Gaddafi for 20-some years.
