In the last 17 years all we see is rising prices, companies getting cheaper, salaries goin' down, social security goin' away, pensions disappearin', just overall more stressful life for everyone.
All because we poured our money and resources into Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Does Osama bin laden's bullshit still affect us today, or has the ripple effect of that faded away?

The Patriot Act was a bummer, but most likely would've been implemented one way or another. It's probably safe to say that most of the things in the Patriot Act wouldn't have been passed with the overwhelming support that they were without 9/11. They probably could've suspended all civil liberties on 9/12 and people would've been all for it.
