Have you tried chocolate ice cream with cayenne pepper in it? It burns.

It made me choke. I had to chase it with Tres Leches cake, but it was pretty good.

I'd have to chase it with Ipecac.

You probably wouldn't need it. My first bite made me cough so hard I nearly puked.

I've had Jeni's Queen City Cayenne and it's great. The pepper is more of a back of the throat tickle with a complex finish as opposed to a big dose of heat (great with cherry topping, btw). I like her Thai Chili gelato too (Peanut butter, coconut milk, and a hint of chili).

I've never met anyone who can even come close to doing gelato as well as her.

The stuff I had was more of a back of the throat burn, but it was amazing. I'm also a total wimp when it comes to spicy stuff, so other people probably wouldn't find it so hot.

I'm going to be in Dublin OH next month, so I'll have to check out Jeni's.

You will hate yourself forever if you don't.

I have it shipped here on dry ice from time to time and we go to a lot of shows in Columbus instead of Cincy just so we can go there.

It's fucking incredible.

Maybe I'll look into having them cater the wedding. Who wouldn't want an all ice cream catered wedding in August?

If you do, invite me.

I promise I won't tell anyone that I know you.

I'm all over it. The bride might be confused, but we'll just say you're QC for Jeni's.

p.s. This idea has some legs. That hot vet friend of mine will be there too. August + Ice Cream + Hot Vet Friend = good times.

The chocolate/pepper thing works but it's really bad if you overdo the heat. It's really not that much of a stretch; chocolate is a big ingredient in Mexican Mole and you can used unsweetened chocolate to tone down something (chili for example) that's too hot.

The Frieze, in Miami Beach, makes an amazing blueberry chipotle ice cream.

I went out for ice cream the other night, and they had chocolate ice cream with candied bacon. SO GROSS.

That doesn't mean it belongs in chocolate ice cream.

I don't care for chocolate ice cream...In fact I do not care for chocolate at all.

Yes I know, that makes me a bad person.
Not necessarily a bad person, but you need to get yourself to a doctor because I think you broke your taste buds.

David Sedaris gets blinding headaches from chocolate.

He has a funny story about having to give up some of his Halloween candy to the weird neighbor kids and cramming a shit-ton of fun size bars in his mouth so they can't have them.

David Sedaris gets a pass because he's more awesome than pretty much everyone.
