For TNA's sake I hope Al Snow isn't going to be in the MEM. It's kind of like, no... make that EXACTLY like when such luminaries as Virgil, Stevie Ray, Scott Norton, and Michael Wall Street joined the NWO.
You want to bring Al Snow in? That's fine. Have him teach the 80% of the roster that can't tell a story in the ring some of the basics. But "I R SUPER SIRUS" Al Snow in the MEM = FAIL!
The other problem with Super Serious Al is that he's basically spent the better part of the last decade laughing at his and Mick's ongoing ribbing. Now he shows up and he's unhappy about it?
Don't get me wrong... I'm a HUGE Al Snow mark. But it's like signing Randy Moss to help with your run blocking. You should use him for what he's good at. Not because of his name.

Not that it really means anything, but IMO it was such a nice middle finger to the WWE to see Punk and Jericho win the awards they did. I mean I'm sure everyone can agree that they were probably hoping for Cena or HHH to win Superstar of the Year and were probably hoping that Cena would win the OMG Moment for his Rumble return.
They did all they could to bury Punk while he has the champ and the fans still support him, despite the WWE's efforts. The same could be said for Jericho as well, as they clearly intend to feed him to Cena throughout this whole feud, and yet the fans still prefer Jericho.
At least, that is my take on the whole thing. And now back to your regularly scheduled stale programming featuring HHH, Cena, HBK and Batista at or near the top of the card.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
I just stumbled across this on 411Mania:
During the recent trip to Iraq, JBL was harassing former WWE announcer and now WWE.com head Joey Styles. JBL was basically bullying him, being rude, condescending and also spilling a drink on Styles at one point. JBL seemed to target Styles since it was his first trip with the company to Iraq, something Styles was looking forward too. Many people in the company don't like when JBL does these things, but they feel that they have to deal with it due to the fact that he is a tenured veteran and has a lot of political stroke backstage.
After a few days on the tour, JBL (who was drinking) did something to Styles that upset him so much that he physically retaliated. Several wrestlers tried to break up the situation, but JBL broke free. This is when Styles threw a punch that not only laid out JBL, but also blackened his eye. Many within the company feel that this is karma, due to the fact that JBL has "hazed" people for years, including the Blue Meanie beat down at the first "One Night Stand" as well as the European Tour where Smackdown talent Palmer Cannon quit the company due to the actions of JBL
This was the talk of the locker room last night at Raw. JBL was reportedly very out of character, as he was quiet and subdued backstage. Styles tried to downplay the entire incident when people brought it up. Most feel that this is a double embarrassment for JBL, first of all because he got punched out by an announcer, and secondly because he is very instrumental in setting up the Iraq tours.

That is funnier than hell, and great. Fuck JBL. He sucks as a wrestler and Joey is the shit. Glad he knocked him the fuck out.soulonfire wrote:I just stumbled across this on 411Mania:

From the latest torch newsletter.....
contains spoilers....
In a rather low unclassy move made earlier this week by a former employee of the WWE who was recently released, said person has mailed out the planned script that was to take place at WWE's 25th anniversary of their Superbowl they call Wrestlemania to various "dirt sheet" websites such as ourselves, presumably giving away the storyline on The Undertaker.
It is no secret to who is behind this mess, as former WWE producer Bruce Prichard, best known to WWF fans as "Brother Love"(ironically The Undertakers first manager) was released last week. The ten page script confirmed rumors of Undertakers opponent being Shawn Michaels.
The story behind it will be that Shawn Michaels, along with Undertakers kayfabe brother Kane, has gotten word that Undertaker is planning on returning to Death Valley after Wrestlemania 25(Also confirming rumors of Undertakers 2009 retirement). Kane, feeling that this is his chance to prove himself to the Undertaker, as he has never defeated the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, takes it upon himself to insert himself into the match at Wrestlemania 25. On the other hand, Shawn Michaels who has no opponent for the show, insists that he is the one who should face The Deadman in his last match, citing Ric Flair as an example. This leads to a semi feud between Kane and Shawn Michaels over who gets to face 'Taker at Wrestlemania.
This will eventually lead to a match between the two at No Way Out, with Shawn Michaels prevailing(by cheating, thus starting a small heel run) and facing The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25. In the weeks leading into Wrestlemania 25, Kane will align himself with Shawn Michaels after HBK convinces Kane that he is indeed the better man to "do the job" at Wrestlemania 25.
HBK is set to take advantage of the fact that Kane is the closest thing to The Undertaker and will have Kane tell him of his weaknesses. The script also calls for Kane to play as a bodyguard for HBK, protecting him until Wrestlemania 25 and assisting him to his matches on RAW. Mind games will prevail in classic 'Taker fashion; there is an angle on the March 30th edition of RAW(the last RAW before WM) scripted for Kane to be cremated alive, only to escape in mere seconds with HBK ditching him.
The last two pages on the script is specifically for the match at Wrestlemania 25, with Undertaker prevailing, keeping his streak alive. The finish calls for HBK to viciously assault 'Taker with a steel chair as the referee is laid out, taking advantage of the golden opportunity.
As the referee regains himself(Mike Chioda is scheduled to referee the match) he begins the traditional slow count that is stopped by Kane stepping down on his hands. Kane will then grab HBK and deliver his signature Chokeslam to him and drag his Brother unto him, keeping Undertakers streak alive. Page ten called for Paul Bearer to come out with the urn, announcing to Undertaker that it's time to go back home. As 'Taker regains himself, he will stand face to face with Kane, and do his signature pose, before vanishing into the air. The ending has a lot of different scripts to it on the page, but this is the one we found more relevant. This will lead to a feud with Kane and HBK, leading to a Hell In A Cell match at Backlash, with that being HBK's possible last match.
This is confirmation to the rumors that has been making the rounds on the net as of late. The storyline was to be produced by Bruce Prichard, Michael Hayes, and Vince Mcmahon. We are not to excited to see what action WWE may take against Prichard releasing scripts of planned shows and angles, but it was a very unclassy move made by him and his parties. We here at WON do not condone the actions of Prichard
classless.

With the exception of the attempted cremation thing... It actually looked pretty cool.
Of course, I don't buy into the whole Shawn Michaels last possible match being at BACKLASH part! I mean he might as well retire at a TNA PPV if he wants to go out on a shitty note.
And do we really need a run-in during Taker's last match at Mania?

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
wow. This does go into one thing that's really pissing me off as of late with the WWE. 'Taker, Cena, HHH, and Batista have all had this air of invinciblity built around them so high, any victory any heel can gain has to be a sneak attack.
I'm so tired of hearing "the ultamate oppertunist", or " The viper like" or whatever. What they've done is to belittle their heels to the point of doubt. At some point Orton, Jerico, or/and Edge needs to just whip ass in the center of the ring. No run ins, no behind the ref bullshit, just flat out kick (preferabally Cena's) ass. Once in a while it'd be nicely refreshing.

For a split second I thought that it was going to end with HBK beating Taker. And honestly the mere thought of that would make me sick. If anyone should end Taker's streak (if they absolutely have to have it end) it should be Kane.

So I had an idea for this thread. I'll call it the What If... discussion. We see shit loads of these things on the Gossip Board, so I thought I'd try it in this thread. And if I remember correctly, wwe.com has a similar section on the website as well.
WHAT IF...
- Bret Hart was still employed by WCW when it was purchased by Vince
- Eddie Guerrero was still alive today
- ECW had never went out of business
- WCW had never went out of business
- Hogan never jumped ship to WCW in 1994
- RVD/Sabu were not busted for driving under the influence
- CM Punk never had the biggest pop of the night back at Survivor Series 2006
- TNA never brought Vince Russo back in November 2006
- Samoa Joe or AJ Styles went to WWE
Feel free to add your own.

So is anybody watchin the old
AWA programs that air
on ESPN classic every night?
I have fun watching the footage and checking out the old wrestlers
that entertained me and other's that I had forgotten about.
It seems ESPN Classic airs episodes mostly from '87.
For example, last night included footage
of Lawler and Superstar Dundee winning the AWA tag team championship
at the mid south coliseum

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
- Bret Hart was still employed by WCW when it was purchased by Vince: I don't think he would've went back. It took him almost 10 years just to talk to Vince again.
- Eddie Guerrero was still alive today: He would bea multi-time champion and still be one of he absolute best in the company.
- ECW had never went out of business: It would very well be going today and I'm sure they would've snapped up all the young talent like Punk, Joe and AJ before WWE caught wind of 'em and made a move to steal 'em.
- WCW had never went out of business: Bischoff had planned on buying the company before the WWE jumped in. I think if had of bought it, the wrestlingworld would be completely different today. A LOT of people stopped watching wrestling once WCW died, and I think there would be a lot more fans still out there today if were still around.
- Hogan never jumped ship to WCW in 1994: He would've just got phased out. His time in that company was over and he NEEDED to step aside. He seemed to be perfect for WCW though and pretty much brought them to a higher level (not talent wise obviously) even before the NWO started.
- RVD/Sabu were not busted for driving under the influence: I think RVD wasn't destined to have a long title run to begin with. They never gave it to him when he was insanely over anyways. They're pretty much doing the same Jeff Hardy right now. I know the man has issues, but I'd put the title on him anyways. If he screws up, fire him and make an example out of him.
- CM Punk never had the biggest pop of the night back at Survivor Series 2006:
- TNA never brought Vince Russo back in November 2006: It would be much better. His ideas need to be filtered. That's why he worked so well in the WWE is because he had Vince to tell him when something was stupid and ignorant. He doesn't have that now and he along with Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantell are running the company right straight into the ground.
- Samoa Joe or AJ Styles went to WWE: It would hurt TNA greatly. Those guys are the backbone and the future of that company. They can't rely on Sting and Kurt Angle forever.
Here's some questions I thought up:
-How would've the invasion been different if the NWO, Goldberg, Sting and all of the rest of the actual WCW roster would've been brought in?
-Out of all the former WWE wrestlers who have passed away, who would've been the most likely to be brought back to the company if they were alive today?
-What would happen if Ring of Honor signed a TV deal? Would it kill the company like it did ECW?
- Eddie Guerrero was still alive today: He would bea multi-time champion and still be one of he absolute best in the company.

He would have been in the same boat as Flair, Goldberg, Nash, and Hogan. He had a contract with Time-Warner, not WCW. So Vince wouldn't have owned his contract. Plus, his brain was porridge at that point. Either way... there was no shot at him coming back to WWE at that point.
- Eddie Guerrero was still alive today
We would have been spared to the ongoing Vicki/Edge romance storyline... WE MISS YOU EDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- ECW had never went out of business
The novelty would have worn off and they would have been just another wrestling company. Let's face it, ECW could have only existed because of WCW and WWE. What made ECW so great was because of how different and cutting edge it was from WCW and WWE... but eventually, what would have happened? How many more times could we have seen a flaming table or a barbed wire bat? What else was there left that they could do that would have kept that fanbase that was always thirsty for something different satisfied?
IF they survived, ECW would most likely be no different than what ROH or (to an extent) what TNA is today. They're there... but hardly thriving. Like TNA they'd have a fanbase, a tv deal, and PPV's, but nothing that could keep them going without someone willing to write a check to cover the constant losses.
- WCW had never went out of business
Then we'd be watching Hogan and Piper feud over the title, while Russo would be wrestling Sable for the cruiserweight title. Buff Bagwell would, for some reason, still be employed and in the Al Snow led NWO.
- Hogan never jumped ship to WCW in 1994
Then the Monday Night Wars would have never happened and WCW would still be here today. Seriously.
- RVD/Sabu were not busted for driving under the influence
Sabu would have been released by now, and Van Dam would be feuding with Jack Swagger on Tuesday nights.
- CM Punk never had the biggest pop of the night back at Survivor Series 2006
That's a good one... He probably would not have won MITB and wouldn't have gotten to carry the strap. He would probably be where he is right now though. Solidifying the midcard and occasionally getting main event matches on RAW as part of 6 man tags. Apparently he has a pretty big fan where he's going to be in good shape for as long as he's there... LINDA MCMAHON! I'm serious.
- TNA never brought Vince Russo back in November 2006
The X-Division would be the focus of the company, as would workrate. Guys would get over on ability, not based on how long they worked for Vince or Ted Turner.
- Samoa Joe or AJ Styles went to WWE
Joe would be in the main event scene. AJ would be jobbing to Evan Bourne because Evan Bourne > AJ Styles.

I'm not up on ROH, but I can;t imagine they would be doing much better than TNA at this point.silent_eyes wrote:
Here's some questions I thought up:
silent_eyes wrote:-How would've the invasion been different if the NWO, Goldberg, Sting and all of the rest of the actual WCW roster would've been brought in?
Everyone else would have been jobbed out, much like they were in the actual invasion, with the exception of Hall and Nash.
silent_eyes wrote:-Out of all the former WWE wrestlers who have passed away, who would've been the most likely to be brought back to the company if they were alive today?
I'm having a tough time remembering all of those who have passed away, so I'll say Hawk and Curt Henning.
silent_eyes wrote:-What would happen if Ring of Honor signed a TV deal? Would it kill the company like it did ECW?

Thought of 2 more with regards to The Screwjob:
What if it had been resolved and Bret was never double crossed? Or better yet, if it somehow could have been reversed and HBK was screwed?
Also, what if Michaels had simply refused to put Stone Cold over and gotten away with it?

He would've went right straight to WCW and joined up with Hall & Nash. He even said "If I go down... then I'm taking everybody with me."
Also, what if Michaels had simply refused to put Stone Cold over and gotten away with it?
If he hadn't, he would've ruined the company and himself. With the shape his back was in back then... I don't think he could've lasted too much longer whether he wanted to or not.

In November, TNA put on one of their best PPVs in a long time (Turning Point) and you're nowhere to be found.
In December they put out yet another pile of nonsensical bullshit and here you are claiming how great it is.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
What if...
Hogan had been given everything he wanted in the AWA?
Chris Benoit had seen the damage done to Dynamite Kid and scaled back his bumps?
Brock decided he'd rather be a wrestler?
Owen had not broken Austin's neck?
Brian Pillman had not gotten into that car accident while he was recovering?
Paul Heyman had actually used the money he was given to finance ECW, not that Rollerball movie?
Hogan was not a selfish prick and had just left the main event of WMIX alone?
Lex Luger had not run his mouth the day of WMX and gotten the title?
Bret had dropped the title to Owen in 1997 instead of getting screwed over?

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
And now the new most important signing in TNA history... Eugene Snitsky.
I'm thinking he can be Curryman 2 aka Super Spicy Curryman. Or maybe they can unmask Ryesha Saed to reveal that she's been Snitsky on his knees all along.
