Knew we had tix/passes…didn’t know what to expect…



The world is spinning…

Jerome, who is the tour manager, takes us back outside and we walk in the direction of the stairs that go down to the dock/underground entry. This is the same area where the equipment truck and tour buses are parked. He hands us our passes…square guest passes…and Brittney and I look at each other with wide eyes and I squeezed her hand. We walk inside, down different hall ways, a few turns, walk by Perry Farrell and stop outside a door. I ask if I could go to the restroom as I had not been in over 10 hours and I was all sweaty. He said no time and went through a door. The next thing we know we are walking through the same door and there stands Trent.

Heaven has black walls…

The first thing I think to do is to extend my hand to shake his, but instead he hugs me and apologizes about the error. He then asks if everything is ok to which I reply “heaven.” I quickly take note of my surroundings…black curtains covered the walls, chairs/couches, other guys in the room. Trent asks if we would like something to drink and starts pulling bottles out of a cooler. He makes a joke about beer, which I decline and explain we have been outside all day and were parched. He goes to hand us bottled water but then asks if we would like Vitamin water instead. I take the Vitamin water (yes, I still have the bottle). He then introduces us to the others in the room…Rob, Brett and maybe Leo? I go over to Rob and tell him I have to shake his hand for Staci. At that point, Trent explains who I am…OMS from the forum and also known as…which I just said “we won’t mention that.” We continue to chat for awhile and finally he says he better get going, it’s almost time for the show. I remember him picking up a black lace-up boot at some point but I can’t seem to remember if he was barefoot or not. So, he walks over to us and says he will see us after the show to which I ask if we could take a few photos then. He said we could just take them now and the next thing I know I’m handing my camera to someone…can’t remember who. I remember Trent bending his knees to get more my height and two pictures were taken. I wished him luck and out we went.

Show time…

I can’t remember if it was JT or Jerome who escorted us to the side stage…and I don’t remember when we put our wrist band on. We were told that we could come back after NIN performs, just show our pass which was stuck on our shirts. We walked from side stage to the pit and worked our way in, about 8 people deep on what would be Robin’s side. SSSC was still playing and we got to see maybe 2 songs which included Tom Morello playing guitar with his teeth! Then NIN took the stage and it was amazing! I tried to take a few pics but I just decided to enjoy the show instead. This was my first time directly in front of Robin so that was a real treat! I have to say that Trent’s performance was outstanding…his voice was strong and clear, his energy was high and there was a lot of emotion and gestures. I was sad to see the show come to an end as I knew it was my last.

Going anywhere and everywhere…

Brittney and I went to one of the merch. booths before heading back stage. When we got backstage again, we went into the catering room and grabbed a cold drink (yes, there was Coke Zero) and had a chance to finally sit down. We met up with other people who had various passes for various reasons. I found out that one of the couples had also told Trent about our name not being on the list, and that he was upset about it. I thought it was nice they mentioned it to him. We decided to walk around for a while since the guys were taking showers and getting cleaned up. There was a flurry of activity with equipment being taken to the trucks and people coming and going, some on skateboards. We went to the side stage and watched Jane’s from there. We were on Dave Navarro’s side and he was really the only person we could see really well. Tom Morello came out to watch and danced with us a bit and we got pics with him. We then saw Ilan through the doors so we went to talk to him. I told him I really enjoyed The New Regime, which he was really happy to hear and appreciative. We got pics and an autograph. We then ran into Bretty B. He introduced me to Gino, who not many people know about and he says “doesn’t get enough love.” I asked Brett if I could get a pic and he said sure…but when I jokingly said I would rather get video of him dancing that led to him laughing and a “noooooo”…LOL So we get our pic taken then I chatted with Brett a bit, only for him to tell me “Trent says you are a good presence in the forum” to which I just say “I try not to get into too many fights.” :-p

We ran into Trent again. At this time, I had been shown his tweet and asked him about it. He explained what he meant and I assured him that I was totally feeling the show and that I felt it was one of his best performances I’ve seen to date. He then let out an “awwww” and hugged me. We stood and talked some more, got his autograph. It was totally surreal to stand there and watch him with out a computer monitor between us, and I tried to take in every second of it. When he announced that he was “going to turn into a pumpkin” I took it as a cue to call it a night. He gave us another hug…long enough for me to tell him “thank you for this extraordinary experience” to his ear which seemed to last for a good 5 seconds. I then shook his hand and wished him all the luck and happiness in the world.

Brittney and I decided we were beat and had enough for the night. I didn’t bother tracking down Justin or Robin, (eventho we saw them walking about) as we had already met them before and didn’t feel we should take time away from others who have not met them. We didn’t even feel like staying after to meet any of Jane’s Addiction…which I sorta now regret. But seriously, we were tired, my back and body was killing me and still sweaty and I felt like I had just experienced something truly special. Not only did I have an awesome experience, but I saw my daughter live out a dream and the happiest/most excited I have seen her in her entire life.

I always avoided anyone associated with echoing the sound backstage. Somehow at every show I went to, there were at least 10 people from there who I recognized.

I hope you are doing well Orion and the other women TR & MQ posted on Twitter. It's shocking he would go that low. My friends were looking at it and now call TR a PREDATOR because he only goes after women even though many a man has tweeted negative things about him. I don't believe it's just the NIN obsessives posting addresses and photos. From the writing it looks like TR & MQ are doing it too. I've never seen nor heard anyone doing such a thing in all my life. Of course, TR couldn't have taken the high road.
