Book of Eli - 2/10
Fucking terrible shit. It looked like a spoof of some other post apocalyptic movies. The worst movie I've seen Denzel be apart of.

This time it was Gummo.
Wow.
It's a mix of re-enacted scenes and what looks like real home footage from the late 80s, just a small town in Ohio.
At first you think it's the most white trash people you've ever laid eyes on, but by the end I realized it's not unlike my own town, or many places I've seen. It's just poor, not-very-well educated white people trying to live their lives, and they're all fucking crazy in some way, but that crazy makes them all beautiful in it's own way.
I swear I know everyone in that movie, the fat chick who will give it up for anyone, the loner who wanders through town looking for anything, the chain smoking women who gossip till the sun goes down, the cross-dressing boy, the thirteen year old who likes being molested, the kids who kill cats and break into houses just to have something to do. It's strange, it's disturbing, and it's so damn real.
Then everyone gets killed by a tornado. That's not a spoiler, it's told at the begining, which makes it even weirder to know that you're watching a piece of America, real America, right before it was all swept away.
Fucking TEN.
A classic! Although most people i know couldn't stand Gummo - i loved it!
Plus, the song 'Dragonaut' by Sleep is featured on the soundtrack.

Has anyone seen "Dread"?
I loved the Clive Barker story when I read it many years ago,
and I've downloaded it from DirecTV,
but every time we consider watching it, we decide not to.
I'm thinking it's an omen that it sucks.

I love the short where the guy who played Dr.Who paints things and then they happen in real life.
You should definately check out the first film based on the Gaines mags "Tales From the Crypt"(not the tv show)

The Human Centipede 3/10
the concept was way more disturbing than the movie itself. and it all could have been avoided if someone had taught either one of those dingbats how to change a tire. plus i have a headache from all that screaming and crying.

The Donner Party
Bleak. God this movie was grim. It focused on "The Forlorn Hope". This was the group who, in desperation, finally tried to break away from the rest of the Donner Party to make the journey through the mountains on foot. It's full of historical inaccuracies, as any movie based on true events is. I can't really recommend this movie to anyone, unless you just like to throw yourself into this kind of dark film that has very few redeeming qualities, one of which would be Crispin Glover, I guess. It's available on Netflix's instant streaming.

if Crispin Glover is the only redeeming quality, that has got to be one seriously piss-poor movie.

Let the Right One In--9/10 I was a little leery of the mega-praise this flick was getting, but it delivered. The scene near the end in the pool was fantastic. One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long, long time, and possibly the best vampire movie I've ever seen period.

My sister's keeper. I though it was going to be more about court/trial scenes, instead it was mostly just flashbacks.

Sorry, that was stupid. It was the old Jump the Shark picture. SATC 2 is definitely the jump the shark moment for the series. There were some very funny moments, especially in the beginning of the movie, but it goes downhill and gets very corny. It is also way too long.TawnyVonJagger wrote:Sara...your image doesn't show up. I love netflix instant streaming. It recommends me to watch old movies I've always wanted to see, but never got around to renting. Very good movie. Al Pacino is young and hot and brilliant in it and I like the old 1970's grimy New York feel.

Netflix has a ton of Hammer flicks. This one was a good one, with a different twist on the actual monster. Peter Cushing is usually great.

Mexican film about dogfights, cheating, and brtother feuds told in a "Pulp Fiction" format.
What a fuckin great flick this was. I wish Hollywood would get back on track and write stuff like this instead of Rambo 8....

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Actually saw five the past week,
Iron Man 2--8/10--Loved the prototype Cap. America sheild. Loved Sam Rockwell as Hammer. The action, which was still pretty good imo, was the weakest part of the movie. Plus i geeked the fuck out at the scene after the cedits.
Alice in Wonderland--Finally got bored enough to see it at the dollar theater, i'd seen a fairly poor copy at my dude's house but didn't really think it was great and didn't think seeing it better would help, and i was right...3/10
Hot Tub Time Machine 9/10--really thought this movie would be shit and was really pleasently surprised.
The People Under The Stairs--4/10--just watched this one cause i picked up a wes craven 3-pack. When i was a kid i really liked this movie but it just dosen't hold up. Although when Fool punches the dog in the face i still have to replay that part a time or two. Can't get enough of black kids jackin' dog's jaws.
edit 'cause i'm a fuckin retard and forgot the fifth movie:
Shriek Forever After: 6/10--dug the first one really didn't care for the second and never even bothered to watch the third movie. But i did really like this one despite the fact that my dude's kid was watching it in a seemingly endless loop for the past week.
