If you knew anything about football, you wouldn't be shocked about it. It was the right choice and the obvious choice. I hate the Titans and hope they fail, but Jeff Fisher is a well respected coach and the longest tenured coach in the league. He's proven he's a good coach. In 4 years, VY still hasn't proven he has what it takes to be a franchise QB. Easy decision.
Spoken like a troll who knows nothing about football.
LOL!!!

Are you actually going to make the argument that they should have kept Young over Fisher?
Please try, troll!

These games tend to be blowouts because once a team gets behind they can't play conservative just to make it look respectable and they end up forcing things which usually just leads to mistakes. Just take the teams off the field and match up Payton vs Carroll. That's like Einstein vs P13 in a battle of wits. Carroll excels at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with poor game management and bad decisions.
You're an idiot. Seattle will make it close or win due to their immense home field advantage. That's one LOUD place to have to play. On top of that the Saints have to travel cross country on a short week. Lastly, the Saints are overrated and are not that good of a team.

I'm still predicting a Saints win, but it will be closer than most people think.
If the Saints aren't that good of a team, what's that say about the sad-sack of a team they beat in the Superbowl less than 12 months ago?

I know you are a moron, but I'll make it real simple for you:
New Orleans won 11 games while playing in one of the best divisions in the NFL
Brees is statistically the best QB of the past 5 years, even if he is not having a great year.
Payton is one of the better coaches in the league
NO has already thumped Sea this season

Seattle won 7 games playing in the worst division in the league
Hasselbeck is hurt, Whitehurst sucks
Carroll is one of the worst NFL head coaches in terms of preparation, adjustments, and game management
They only have 1 quality win

Home field doesn't mean shit in this case, unless the GM's name is Polian and can hand pick the officiating crew and tell them how to referee the game.

The Texans hired Wade Phillips as their Defensive Coordinator. That's a good move. He may be a shitty head coach but he's a very good coordinator. Although I still don't see how they can bring Kubiak back after the way that team faded after being 4-2 at the bye week.

And since the time when all teams were doing that stuff and the practice stopped New England has put up seasons where they won 16 games, 11 games without Brady, 10 games, and now 14 this year. But you keep telling yourself that it's the only way the team can win if it helps you with your inferiority complex. But hey, it's not like NE had to get rule changes and have their GM corner the refs and threaten them in order to get their team to win a playoff game.

I think he'd have been gone if it wasn't for the labor dispute. The offense was solid as always but the DC had to go. They lost 5 games due to the defense laying down. I'm pretty curious to see how they're going to switch to a 3-4 with a lock out looming though.

Jason Garrett has been named the Dallas Cowboys' head coach, sources said Thursday.

The team has scheduled a press conference for 1:30 p.m. CT to make an official announcement.

Terms of the deal were not available, but Garrett had one year remaining on his contract as the assistant head coach that paid him $3.5 million annually.

Matt Leinart and Colt McCoy say hi. In a year where a lock out looms with rookie contracts a big part of the negotiation, he made an incredibly stupid business decision. That kid probably left 25 million on the table.

He can get a degree in a cast. He can't make 50 million in the NFL in one.
If you are the locked in #1 pick freaking go pro and get your degree when you are 37 and retired.
One bad hit and millions over the next 15 years are potentially lost.
Of course...I'd not really care to have the fate of the Panthers franchise on my shoulders either.
He might be better dropping 15 spots and going to a Dallas or Miami type team in 2012.

History says at least one of the home teams will lose this weekend. Who is it going to be?

Seattle
Indy
KC
Philly

I think it will be more like 3 of them lose. Seattle for sure. Probably KC(although I' rooting for them this weekend). GB looks like they can beat Philly. I'm not sure the refs will allow NY to beat Indy.

But would you want to play for Carolina? What would be funny is if he opts out of the draft and signs as a walk-on to a borderline Playoff team. Wait. Can you do that in the NFL?

All players must submit for the draft. If they remain undrafted they become a free agent. If they are drafted but refuse to sign with the team that drafts them they can be reinstated for the following year's draft but must go through the draft process again, although the team that drafted them the previous year is ineligible to draft them again. The team that drafted the player the previous year holds all rights to the player up until the following draft day so the player is unable to work out for other teams.

I don't think his returning to college has anything to do with Carolina having the first selection. The first player drafted always ends up going to the team with the worst record unless that team traded away the pick. And if he had an issue specifically with Carolina he could let them know up front he didn't want to go there and get them to work out a trade with another team near the top. I think he really just wants to stay in school another year and get his degree. I think it's cool to see a guy not just make a cash grab. He's going to make big money either way in the long run. And with the looks of Carolina's roster there is no reason why they won't have one of the top pick next season, so he still could end up a Panther.

Fans aren't really bagging on Luck, it's more of a "Now what?" situation. As horrible as this season was, Luck was the light at the end of the tunnel. Now that he's gone, we have the #1 pick in a draft that has no clear cut #1. Everyone says "trade down", but you've got to find someone who wants that pick. Not likely. And we're stuck with Jimmy Clausen for another year. Sure, they can pick up a free agent vet at QB, but nothing happens until a new CBA is in place. And nobody knows when that will be. So, more than anything, we have bad, young team, with a very cloudy future.

Being drafted #1 overall means that you're going to a really bad team (like Carolina), but it also means you're getting some serious bank. Staying in school when you KNOW you've got the overall #1 sewn up is a huge gamble. He could get hurt in school and never see a snap (or a dollar) in the NFL. He could have an off year next year (like McCoy and Leinert did) and watch his stock (and his signing money) drop. Throw that whole Harbaugh leaving thing in the mix and that decision just looks hinky as hell, not to mention the fact that the CBA probably will have a rookie cap in it after this year. We're talking about risking millions upon millions here. I understand wanting to hold on to the college life a little longer, but you go to school to get paid eventually, right? He can finish his degree anytime. Tons of guys do that. What he can't count on is those over all #1 dollars still being there a year later.

As to the draft thing, Lickety covered that pretty well. You can negotiate out of a particular team if you really want to. Eli Manning pulled it off.

Some of you need to remember that a kid like Luck will have an insurance policy worth millions(if he does not already have one in place.
That policy will protect him against a career ending injury that he may suffer while playing in college.
Not the first player to take out such a policy and won't be the last.

The media is so lazy. They give the kid crap for staying in school. If he decided to leave, the same media would come down on him for leaving school early and not getting that education. Ridiculous!

Millions, yes. But not the 15-30 million that he could make over a career. Enough to ensure a fairly comfortable life. That said, it's his life and his decision. Panther fans are disappointed, but for purely selfish reasons. I don't know why it should bother anybody else.

I heard a report on the radio last night that when the new CBA is signed, the rookie salary cap will be put in motion beginning with the 2011 season.
I have to believe that Luck was made privy to that information by either the NFL or Stanford.
If that is true, was there really 15-30 million out there waiting for him?
If not, the decision to stay in school was more than likely very easy.

Its about time the NFL had a rookie salary cap.
#1 QB's like Alex Smith and JaMarcus Russell have taken tens of millions of dollars, without having earned the majority of it(shit, Russell is already out of the league).
