I see a rematch next year, it would be out of character for a guy like Triple H too not attempt again. Especially considering he walked away and Taker didnt. Plus ending it with a submission move and a no holds barred match...meh..

Miz retains...and takes a Rock Bottom/People's Elbow. From curtain jerkin' last year to a spot with Rock this year. Somewhere Caustic Queen is contemplating suicide...

Easily the worst Wrestlemania I've ever seen. I feel sorry for my friend who actually spent money on it.
The highlight of my night was talking to the other wrestling nerds at my buddy's place about old school wrestling shit.
God damn, what a let down. Any of us on here could have written a better show. Besides the Taker/HHH match, absolute shit.

I think it went over better than I thought it would have.
Was glad to see Edge retain - Del Rio should have a run with the IC belt. Cody Rhodes getting the win was deserved. I would have liked to have seen CM Punk win, but with Orton winning it concludes the feud. The Undertaker/Triple H match sounds like the match of the night to me. I was also glad to see Miz get the win; Cena didn't need this win, regardless of how the match ended.

great story telling with taker and hunter. great ending i thought.
next year should be taker vs whomever the champ is at the time. give him the belt and let him retire the next night on raw.

From the get go it was a bust. The Rock coming out at the beginning and rambling for no reason was the wrong way to start the show. It should've started with a fast past match.
Edge winning makes no sense to me. They just buried Del Rio, their biggest rising star. Who does Edge feud with now? Cody Rhodes winning was good, I'll give you that. The Taker/HHH match was fantastic. But the main event was shit. I'm already sick of the Rock. He's actually made me a John Cena fan.
You know it wasn't a good 'Mania when one of the top 3 memorable moments was Snookie doing some gymnastics routine in the ring. And honestly, how the hell does the Bryan/Sheamus match not make it onto the show, but that waste of time tag match does. Horrible horrible booking

I did read the results and I had a few friends there this evening who had a great time. Edge winning doesn't surprise me - if they REALLY wanted to capitalize on Del Rio, they would have had the match in the main event and let Del Rio win. The problem is, I still don't think Del Rio is ready to run with the belt. I had been back and forth on this - I think he has what it takes to be a star, but he's not there just yet. Del Rio losing the past few weeks made me think the WWE wasn't ready to pull the trigger on him just yet. I think he could continue to feud with Edge and Christian, and we'll likely see him capitalize with a title win by/at Summerslam.

A side note regarding Del Rio - with Sheamus falling from WWE Champion to being booted off the WM card (for the most part), I'm wondering if the WWE felt they were pushing Del Rio too quickly, possibly resulting in a similar situation where Del Rio would be champion and fall from grace within a year. I think Vince wants to make Del Rio a main star for the future and to push him too quickly might backfire...again.

Perhaps, but it doesn't help Del Rio's cause that he lost cleanly in the match. At least make him look somewhat strong in losing.Captain Morgan wrote:A side note regarding Del Rio - with Sheamus falling from WWE Champion to being booted off the WM card (for the most part), I'm wondering if the WWE felt they were pushing Del Rio too quickly, possibly resulting in a similar situation where Del Rio would be champion and fall from grace within a year. Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
So I've only recently started watching wrestling on a more regular basis. I grew up obsessed with Wrestling, but to me "the real" days of wrestling was with The Hart Foundation, Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, etc...
Anyway, at first I didn't care for Del Rio, but now I've grown to appreciate how much of an old school feel and shtick he actually brings to the table; his match with Edge was actually my favorite of the night to be honest.
I thought the Undertaker/HHH match was a bit over the top/annoying. And I too was surprised Shawn didn't get involved at all tonight.
Am I alone though in wondering what the point of a finishing move is if you can never actually win a match by using it anymore these days??
I mean, not to sound like a crabby old man, but it used to be when someone kicked out of a pin after a finishing maneuver, it was done with finesse and really kept you on the edge of your seat, now it's like it happens 10 times in every match.
The other thing that really confused me was, did I miss something or was there almost NO title matches? Wrestlemania used to be 90% Title Matches and 10% Grudge/Entertainment Factor matches.

I guess they feel getting hit by a finisher and getting out of the pin/submission draws more interest into the match. It can, if done correctly.TheInfiniteStaircase wrote:So I've only recently started watching wrestling on a more regular basis. In regards to title matches - the WWE has taken a huge shit on a lot of their titles and are now just beginning to try and rebuild. The IC/US belts haven't seen too much attention in a long time, but with Barrett/Sheamus as champions I think we'll see a new era...at least I'm hoping so. Having some big newer players involved such as Del Rio, Rhodes, McIntyre and Bryan will help. I'd like to see Punk, Morrison, Christian, and Bourne get involved as well.
The tag titles have been nothing for a long time and it's a result of the WWE being barely able to hold their singles divisions together. There aren't enough tag teams to successfully generate interest again. 99-01 were the last of the "peak" years as you had the Dudleyz, the Hardyz, Edge & Christian, etc. It would have been interesting to see Del Rio win the WHC and have E&C revive the tag division.
TNA actually had some interesting stars in their tag division, but like everything else, they managed to fuck that one up and split up almost all of them. I'd like to see guys like the Motor City Machine Guns get a chance in the WWE tag division.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
With four months until Summerslam, are we officially on the "Road to Summerslam?"
What do you see happening within the next four months?
I predict that the Rock/Cena feud continues to build and we might even see a match at Summerslam. I think the Miz/Cena feud comes to a conclusion at Extreme Rules in May, with Miz continuing his reign.
Sheamus will continue to dominate his championship reign and could begin an interesting feud with someone like Evan Bourne, who had been out of action for a while.
On the Smackdown side, a reunited Edge/Christian will likely break and result in a match at Summerslam for the World Heavyweight Championship.
In regards to the mid-card, Barrett could be on the road to an interesting reign - one that could be intercepted by the dissolution of the Corre. All four members have the potential to be big singles competitors (well, maybe not Slater as much as the rest). A fatal four way involving these guys could result in a Gabriel win and face-turn. A bitter Del Rio could challenge his reign and begin an interesting feud.
I'm hoping that the tag division rebuilds over the next few months, pairing some of the "lesser" guys in order to build their careers. I do like the fact that the tag belt travels to both shows, so it should allow for some interesting matches.
I see big things on the rise for Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre (according to their position within the company and the main guys backing them). If used correctly, we could get great Money in the Bank additions.
Speaking of - I think we'll see the winner of the MITB cash in quite a bit sooner. Perhaps Del Rio scores a second chance and preys on the victor in the Summerslam match.
What do you guys think?

I felt like I needed a rape shower after shelling out $65 on that crap of an ending. Grant it HHH/Undertaker delivered the goods BIG TIME, but Miz/Cena/Rock was the biggest clusterfuck since WCW "Souled Out" 1999.

The Miz is supposed to be another "JBL" and keep the title for a long time. Miz is a good champion and i really dig his gimmick. You could see last night in Cena's eyes that he was going to lose and didn't put on a good show. I'm sick of Cena and wish he would go to Smackdown!
Last night was not a good WM at all and i think Wrestlemania hasn't been that good in years. Good win for Orton though!

didnt pay for Mania, saw it on the internet. Had 4 links going incase some went down. WWE or other events need to do something about this, the 4 links together had 112,000 watching
seeing it in a football stadium never gets old, thats badass
WWE has said recently Mexico is now the #2 country for pay per view buys, having Del RIo and Rey lose early not a good idea
so the Del RIo push was for nothing, i was PISSED! just means a feud with Edge then Christian will turn on Edge for Del Rio
Cody Rhodes, i knew the push for him is strong but the dude is a loser. 1/1000 entertaining as his brother.
whats the point of The Corre? the IC champ,Tag Champs and big Zeke get squashed by random guys put together for a team?
Snookie didnt have to win, that pissed me off also, the Hollywood people always have to win. Vince wants coverage having Snookie lose would have got more mainstream coverage.
Orton over Punk..why
glad to see Miz win, that was a good choice!

The rating hasn't turned the WWE creative team to shit... they were fucking shit a week after the Attitude Era ended (many years ago), pretty much the same time that worthless baby factory cunt Stephanie McMahon was fucking foolishly promoted from 'nothing' to 'something'.

H/Taker was the saviour. I really enjoyed the whole thing. Good matches. Sure, they'll never top WM7 or WM3 but this was the best one I've seen in a long, long while.
So am I the only one completely disappointed in the submission ending to H/Taker?
