New Zealand wouldn't let Alex Morgan score either. She's fucking had it.

But did she get a free kick for being blocked like that? Nope. I've fucking had it by now too. Hat-trick against Canada - mark my words!

Jess Ennis, Greg Rutherford, the amazing Mo Farah - UK had a great day in the track and field. Six golds today I think.

Brits indeed did nicely between the track and the sculls, Saturday.

I hand-timed (separately) both Farah's and Galen Rupp's final lap at 53.6 seconds. Not too shabby after a 4:26/mile pace for 6.21 miles.

They both ran a great tactical race.

Once the adrenaline rush wears off, that spiked shin of Rupp's is gonna sting like a bitch.

Rupp will take the 10K Gold in Rio, if he stays healthy. Maybe even the 5K along with it.

Yeah. It was pretty cool to see the royal family last night cheering for their track-thletes. The Olympics in general are a pretty feel good thing. Once ever four years is perfect because when it's over I'm ready to be done with it and when they're in progress I really dig it.

Just heard that the favorite (Russian) for the gold in the 20k walk passed out and collapsed at the 19k mark and then "defecated" all over himself.

Ok, but it all makes sense now. Morgan was just saving herself for the really dramatic last-second match-winning goals to maximize her TV face time. How thoughtful.

Pity that poor officiating decided this epic battle.

I suppose Canada deserves what they got for blowing leads, but by every account I've read, the "holding the ball too long" penalty on the keeper is rarely called, and never called before a yellow card is assesed, and the hand ball call was bogus, a phantom call.

Too bad, as it would be nice to see the order of things shaken up with an upset. Sinclair deserves so much better. She may just be the best female player in the world right now. Only the Japanese have been able to contain her.

Goalies get reprimanded for stalling all the time, the men are just clever enough to do it before goal-kicks so it's just a yellow without free kick. The hand was no mystery either. USA wasn't given a clear penalty earlier on, so either way, it was pretty even.

LMAO @ "best in the world"! Look at that man-face! I mean, really look. There's no way she's better than Alexandras Krieger and Morgan.

I haven't played Soccer in about 30 years so I don't follow, or remember, the rules.
Someone said today that the hand ball was called as a result of the player deliberately hitting the ball with her shoulder which is considered a hand ball. I didn't see the play so did this happen and is that the rule?

Had to watch a video to see what all the palaver was about with this penalty decision.

I've seen them given but it was a really harsh decision. Firstly, there was a player charging the ball, who it barely missed on the way through. Second, the player who it hits is turning away from the ball, and third, her arm isn't raised or outstretched in any way. Her arm is actually tucked in towards her body, protecting herself. I'd be surprised if that was given in the Premier League.

Come on, the second chick turned and had her arm out in some scared-girlish way, that's what caught the ball. That would be called in any meaningless fifth-league men's game in any country.

You know, if it had been Matheson, who's actually pretty, for Canada, I might think different, but like this, it's a totally obvious call.

No way, dude. Her arm is bent in towards herself, with her hand up in front of her ugly face. Harsh call, but shes Canadian so, meh. It happened so fast, bitch was just protecting herself.

Correct decision=No penalty.

I'm far from a soccer officianado, but pretty much all of the press I've read, Canadian and American, has stated that the officiating was terrible, inconsistent (Canada should have been awarded a penalty kick for a hand ball earlier in the game), and that the ref could, and should, have just warned the Canadian keeper verbally as opposed to awarding a free kick, and she also should NOT have awarded a penalty as there was no way for the Canadian to avoid having the ball hit her "hand".

The powers that be clearly wanted the Japan/US marquee matchup in the final. Had the US gotten hosed like that, they'd still be on the field freaking out.

And that's exactly it right there. Because this all happened to the Canadian team, we're somehow expected to just smile and deal with it. But had the same call been made against the U.S., there would be absolute hell to pay - no way would Americans have put up with such a bogus penalty in any way, shape, or form.

I just can't believe that they're actually considering suspending Sinclair & the coach for this. God forbid the omnipotent FIFA should ever look inward and assess their own.

Bad decisions like that happen every week in soccer though. Very rarely an official will be punished by having a few weeks off or by having to referee a lower division match.

Although I think it was a shit call, it did hit the arm and I can see why it was given. I dunno what the coach and Sinclair have done, but running your mouth about the officials (if that's what they've done) is always gonna get them in trouble. Shit, Alex Ferguson praised a ref before a United match and got fined for it. You have to be really non-committal either way when talking about a ref.

This is exactly why I love bitch soccer. When it's big game time people come out who barely know the sport and get all bent out of shape over such a super not controversial game.

If you seriously wanted to break it down about the oh so partial referee, you'd still have to admit the ugly tall boyish US striker whose name is not Alex Morgan was totally obviously fucking fouled for a penalty that wasn't called sometime in the first half.

That's ridiculous. Throughout football history, there's been decisions that were so much worse and so much more important for the course of games in actual tournaments that aren't called Olympics. People bitch, and people accept there's no "hell to pay" for anyone. It's what makes it fun.

Canadian crybabies, because their strategy bit them in the ass.
