"Ron Paul Does Not Have a ‘Cult’ Following" - Tom Woods

Paul got 2 million votes. Romney got 10 million. Somehow his cult members believe Paul deserved the nomination. That's why his followers are called Paulbots.
Paulbot
Someone suffering from an obnoxious personality disorder which causes them to endlessly scan online discussions for mentions of Ron Paul and then descend on those discussions with hostile invective and over the top praise for Dr. Paul, accompanied with various rude behavior including shouting down disagreement and accusing anyone who disagrees with them of being a fascist. Often characterized by not actually understanding the principles of libertarianism, the political positions of Ron Paul, or how to make any kind of effective argument for their positions. Despite being real people they have been called 'bots' because their comments often have the non sequitur like quality of computer generated spam.

Why I love PaulBots
Bear with me.
I've discovered something of a "love-hate" relationship with the PaulBots. Why? Let me explain.
I'm one of those types who sometimes turns on the AM side of the radio dial to see what the crazies are saying now. I rationalize this as "knowing what the opposition is saying", but it may well just be masochism.
Anyway, it's a bit amusing lately to watch the GOP circular firing squad playing out on the right-wing airwaves--some hosts are in Romney's tank, others squarely in Santorum's. It sort of shows which ones are paid by the establishment (because, seriously, who could be genuinely enthusiastic about the cardboard standee that is Mitt Romney?), and which ones aren't.
But in the last three or four months, the most amusing part of these shows have been the PaulBots.

No. That's not how a civil discussion about this sort of thing works.Moggio wrote:youtube.com and google.com are your friend. You can't be this fucking stupid. Do you really NEED me to hold your hand on this?demolition23 wrote:No. That's not how a civil discussion about this sort of thing works.
You informed me that Ron Paul had supporters worldwide.
I asked whether you had any numbers around the extent of his international popularity, because I'm honestly curious.
You can't then just tell me to go google it. You made a claim, it's up to you to provide the detail/evidence to support it.
Why would I read the whole board?Moggio wrote:You can't be this fucking stupid. Do you really NEED me to hold your hand on this?demolition23 wrote:No. That's not how a civil discussion about this sort of thing works.

He's run for the Republican nomination in each of the last two election cycles and participated in many, many Republican primary presidential debates.
He's introduced on TV shows as the X amount of terms Republican Representative of Texas' 14th Congressional District.
In each of those elections he utilized campaign finances from the Republican National Committee.
He is currently a registered member of the Republican party.
Sounds like just another Republican to me.
If he's not a republican, he's fairly dishonest and manipulative for joining the party and running for office as one.NickasInSaltLick wrote:He's not?Moggio wrote:

If a person makes a claim, its their responsibility to back it up - IF they want to be taken seriously.
I trust those links are going to give me some sense of Ron Paul's international popularity? If so, thanks.
I still don't see why you couldn't just respond to a polite question with a polite answer, but I will check these out. Like I said, I'm curious as to his international profile. Since you're familiar with them, could you tell me roughly where in which film his international popularity is discussed?

If he'd won the presidency, he'd be called a republican president.
Moggio can't help being obstinate. It's a defense mechanism his mind feels is necessary.
Ron Paul is NOT a Republican. He's primarily a Libertarian. The ONLY reason why he has run as a Republican for quite some time now, is because he knows he wouldn't be able to increase his support base substantially if he were to otherwise run as an independent or Libertarian. That's NOT dishonest at all, especially since he agrees with some Republican philosophy. It's a strategy...and it WORKED. Because he's DOUBLED his support base since 2008 and hence has transcended his former cult status support base and now has MILLIONS of supporters...demolition23 wrote:If he's not a republican, he's fairly dishonest and manipulative for joining the party and running for office as one.
You don't. Just because you are a fan of R. Paul and Zappa, that doesn't mean you have a patent expertise when it comes to them. All you have is your opinion. You seem to think you are an authority.Moggio wrote:

Truth is, you are no more than a person with an interest. You are NOT the final word.
You are a legend in your own mind. You can't see beyond the mirror you are constantly gazing at.
No you don't. You're just an interested party expressing opinions, along with methane gas.Moggio wrote: You see, the problem with you is that you act like I have no credibility or something.
Yes, I do have credibility.
