But I really like a lot of Stones songs.
Some Girls and Tattoo You are my favorite Stones albums and between the two, they cover a lot of my favorite Stones songs.

looks like ‘sticky fingers’ & ‘let it bleed’ had the classics.
So.. how important was Mick Taylor in all of this?

Can't choose just one, however, one Stones song that has been most consistent as a favorite is You Can't Always Get What You Want. It was the first song that I recall playing repeatedly on vinyl as a kid and its remained in rotation since.

Critically. They never were the same again. Some Girls was the last gasp. Been downhill ever since, both live and on record.DangerZone wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:56 pm looks like ‘sticky fingers’ & ‘let it bleed’ had the classics.

Taylor only features on one song on Let It Bleed.

Yeah, but that's not the only factor. The songwriting peaked in the early 70's and has been downhill ever since, and that's not on Ronnie.Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 2:50 amCritically. My favourite song is Paint, It Black which featured Jones, they did their best singles with him.
The best part of the Taylor years was certainly his contribution to the live shows, but they were also on the decline studio wise by the time he left.

Mick Taylor would be the 1st to tell you that despite what the album credits say, the Glimmer Twins didn't write everything.Dyslexicheart wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:00 amYeah, but that's not the only factor. Re: What’s your favorite Rolling Stones song?
I'll back him - yeah the lyrics are silly and Mick's falsetto is cringe, but that CW backbeat just slaps, and Woody was hands down the best bass player in the Stones. Nearly 6 minutes of raw groove.Metal Sludge wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:53 pmThat's the worst!
Lots of songs I hated back in the day grew on me eventually, but not this one! It's awful!
