Live Nation To Stop Taking Merch Fees At Its Clubs

Post by Nate S Axel »

At least it's club-sized venues.
Live Nation announced a new program in partnership with Willie Nelson to end the merch fees that have been widely decried by artists — and give $1,500 to upcoming artists who play at participating clubs

Yup...one thing if for sure. If you are saving money on one thing, they are gonna take if from somewhere else. LN is not gonna be out 1 single penny from what they make now.

Parking, beer, food, surcharges...etc. One, or all of these are gonna go up

Totally great way for them to crush every other club w/ $1500 nite bonus.

They can sweat it out, drive out other clubs, then get paid 5x in 2 or 3 years.

Ruthless and fans will pay.

Not far off from HOB shows being $100.

Well Eddie Trunk says it’s a win!

However tank breaks it down and finds some of the catches.

I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

If Trunk is on board then you know it’s gotta have a catch.

To be fair, Eddie walked his comments back the following night on his YouTube show, saying that he hadn't considered the impacts to independent venues.
