My top 5 would be:

1. 5150
2. FUCK
3. Balance
4. Diver Down
5. OU812

That’s my ranking.

I actually have the OU812 vinyl sitting here with the Sammy reissue package that just got released. As much as I love ‘When It’s Love’ and Van Halen generally, I’ve never heard the album all the way through. Still willing to bet it’ll end up at the bottom of the list once I do.

Whichever has Finish What Ya Started, which is the best Van Hagar song.

Send the rest of the Sammy stuff to the landfill.

5150, then Diver Down followed by FUnlawfulCK, then OU812, then Balance. That's my preferred order, anyway.

The worst Roth era is still way better than the best Sammy era.

Diver Down

I can't believe people would rather hear Why Can't This be Love Walks In Your Butt than Dave/EVH busting out some killer covers...

Diver Down has a few flaws (the cover, for starters), but c'mon guys, Van Hagar ain't as fun.

Summer Nights and 5150 are better than anything on DD.

Secrets and Little Guitars beg to differ.

I agree with this. OU812 is the only VH album outside VH3 that I dislike though. Lots of uninspired filler on DD but it's still 1982 Ed and Roth!

Amen. Spazzy was the source of infection that eventually killed the band. They definitely got successively worse with each record - don't get me wrong, with a generational musical talent like Eddie there were still moments, but even he couldn't stem the tide of Hagar the Horrible's aggressive mediocrity.

That's my order.

Well, I never cared for Balance or OU812 and can't remember anything off them, so I guess joint last for those two.

Not sure how an album with She’s The Woman, Chinatown, You And Your Blues, Stay Frosty, Bullethead and As Is could possibly suck. Even taking into account Tattoo and Roth’s extraneous yelping, which could have easily been fixed in the mix.

Conversely, it’s not hard to see how an album with Sucker In A Three Piece, Feels So Good, Black n Blue and Cabo Fucking Wabo does indeed suck.

Hey
Alright
Whoo how 'bout 'cha now, come on, oh yeah
Dig it
That's right
Is everybody ready?
Let's go

Up 'n down
(Round and round)
Oh, round and round
(Movin' up and down)
In 'n out
(Round and round)

Yeow
Crank it, blow out
Uh, ouch
Help me
Now flip on over
Oh baby, you know that I like it (woop, woop, woop)

She choked the chain
(Round and round) she got the hook
(Movin' up and down) can't get away
(Round and round) oh

Fever starts to climb, reaching 105
I need another shot o' your love
Love, love is the source (of infection)
Love, love is the source (of infection)

Hey, Eddie
Say what?
Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about
Wax it on down, woo
Ready, set, go
Oh yeah
Woo
That's right

Love, love is the source (of infection)
Love, love is the source (of infection)
Love, love, love, love is the source (of infection)

Wanted to write that Cabo Wabo is not bad, then realized it's only the overall crappiness of OU812 that makes a song that would have been below average on other VH albums look good. Otherwise, fully agree.
