Obvious pick here should be the Trick or Treat soundtrack.

Agree. 80s music/style didn't instantly die on 12/31/89. As we've discussed on this forum ad nauseum, there was definitely some leakage.

Plenty of leakage in fact. And not just in rock/metal. New Jack Swing and Roxette, for a couple of examples, were just as much early 90's sounds as they were late 80's sounds.

I apologize. I was quick to respond without reading the time window in the original post. What about the 2000s? How much 80s style hard rock was in that? That would be an interesting hunt to find your 10 favorite songs.

The OP even stated 80s and “early 90s.”

Anyone who is old enough to remember knows 92 was a transitional year and 93 was the year some people got their way and saw the death of not only hair metal but the decade of the 80s. I never saw so many sheep hop off one bandwagon and onto another in my life.

Right. Things definitely started to wobble in 1990, but the coroner didn't call it til about 93-94 or so.

Agree 100% Last Action Hero In 93 was probably the end of seeing bands like Tesla, Queensryche, and AC/DC on a movie soundtrack

This would have been funny if it was a fictitious band with actors pretending to be metal maniacs. But the fact that it's a real band makes it even funnier

No mention yet of Vince Neil "You're Invited" (California Man) or even GnR "You Could Be Mine" (T2). Is it because both were in the 90s too?
Guns may be the last 80s metal band to get a new original song on a big name movie soundtrack with "Oh My God " (End of Days, 1999)
