I dig the new record but nobody can convince me there's not studio trickery going on with Rob's voice...

Way better than Ozzy or Bruce in 2024
but Preist has always been far superior to Ozzy or Maiden

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

That’s what a man in his 70’s singing heavy metal sounds like. I don’t find it all that bad, and friends there said it was great.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 6:14 am Fucking horrible.

We must be watching a different video. Sounds fine. Specifically look at that scream around 1:44.

The scream at 1:44 is fine. Everything before it is shaky as fuck.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:04 am We must be watching a different video. Sounds fine. Specifically look at that scream around 1:44.
Re: Priest tour 2024 Panic Attack : worst Halford has ever sounded
This is what I was thinking. He sounds a little rough the first couple of lines but sounds fine to me after that.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:04 am We must be watching a different video. Sounds fine. Specifically look at that scream around 1:44.

He doesn't sound as good as 3+ decades ago, but good enough for me to see this tour a few times.

Re: Priest tour 2024 Panic Attack : worst Halford has ever sounded
Not joking - when I watch the old videos like Priest Live from the Turbo tour I honestly forget they even have a bass player. They don’t show him for a bit and then it’s oh shit, I forgot he was even in the band!
Re: Priest tour 2024 Panic Attack : worst Halford has ever sounded
its ok for his age... I never was a fan of reading from a teleprompt though. he is glued to it..
Re: Priest tour 2024 Panic Attack : worst Halford has ever sounded
Richie Falkner is as good as it gets though. Damn he can play.
What the hell was that all about?

I'll take it over pre recorded vocals any day. If he needs it to get the lyrics right , then i'm perfectly fine with it. What Kiss does "live" should be a fucking crime.

I have a show from that tour (Disney HOB), sounds great. But then again, maybe he re-recorded the vocals.Love_Industry wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 1:34 amHe sounds better than 2 decades ago. He was really bad on some shows of the Crucible tour 2002-3.
I met the guy that mixed or did some sort of work on Live Insurrection and apparently the vocals were all redone in the studio cuz the live takes sucked (not sure if it was the vocals or the recording!)

First song of the night and for sure leaning on the prompter for lyrics. Honestly his voice sounds OK and no doubt he sounded better a few songs in.
Got to think at his age he's got a vocal warm up routine to cover this kinda thing.

Saw them last night, he sounded pretty fucking good to me. Maybe too good in some parts, there were some suspiciously effective harmony parts going on there while nobody else was near a mic...

I heard a bootleg of a show on the British Steel tour back in 1992...a friend had a CD of it... I was still younger and didn't quite understand the recording of live vocals on official live releases...wow...Rob was bad...Psychobolia.com wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 11:47 amI have a show from that tour (Disney HOB), sounds great. He wants to get back into Priest. He has been trying to get back into Priest for a long time now. He will be fuming that Faulkner is doing so well.

Yeah. Not great, for sure, but not bad by any means. Some off key moments at the beginning and then nailing some screams. He was like that in his hey day too.WOLF wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:51 amThat’s what a man in his 70’s singing heavy metal sounds like. My guess is in the very rare chance KK gets back in Priest, he will replace Sneap, not Faulkner.....maninblack wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 6:09 pmHe wants to get back into Priest. He has been trying to get back into Priest for a long time now. He will be fuming that Faulkner is doing so well.

Re: Priest tour 2024 Panic Attack : worst Halford has ever sounded
It is the first show of the tour and he's in his 70s. His voice sounds good. Don't know if he's singing along with any pre-recorded tracks - doesn't sound like it to me from that clip - but there's obviously vocal effects that allow his voice to be sustained longer or provide some echo, etc. That's not cheating, just like guitar pedal effects aren't cheating.
