You favourite D-list releases

Now is the time to pimp those nobodies you've always loved.

I'll start with Shortino/Northrup's Back On Track. Being released in 1993, this one was definitely late for the party. This is what LA metal should sound like though. Great kickass songs, fiery fretboard work and an excellent singer. If only Paul Shortino's other stuff had been up to the same level.

Child’s Play - shame there was really only that one release but it so solid top to bottom. Surprised more people don’t talk about them.

GUN - never really get talked about on here but those first 3 albums are spectacular! The new stuff without Mark Rankin is also still really solid.

Riverdogs - Love the debut album. Rob Lamothe doesn’t get talked about as a great vocalist.

Gypsy Rose "Prey" - spectacular from beginning to end!

Child’s Play - shame there was really only that one release but it so solid top to bottom. Surprised more people don’t talk about them.

GUN - never really get talked about on here but those first 3 albums are spectacular! The new stuff without Mark Rankin is also still really solid.

Riverdogs - Love the debut album. Rob Lamothe doesn’t get talked about as a great vocalist.

That Riverdogs album is mindblowing. The follow-up Bone and the live album Absolutely Live were listened to by probably 20 people, but they were good follow-ups as well. For me, Rob Lamothe was as much part of their genius as Vivian Campbell was, probably even more. I actually acquired a few of his solo albums. They're on the mellow side and there's not much exciting guitar playing, but the songs are brilliant. I didn't like the reunion album very much though. Seems like the magic is gone.

Agreed on all points. Rob has some great solo albums/songs! The reunion album had a few good songs but wasn’t as good as the EP. Not sure if you know but Rob has a new album/project called Cross Country Driver, with his son and some guitarist named James Harper. It is worth checking out, start with Rio Tularosa and A Man With No Direction.

they actually released a third album in 2001, an EP, under the name Kollizion. not sure if it was officially released, as I can't find any info on it, but finally found the tracks after years of looking.

sound-wise, it sounds similar to "Coarse."
