By not allowing interruptions and just letting Biden talk, it doesn't look good. Is he sick tonight? Letting Trump interrupt would have benefited Joe more than this.

I don't think Biden will be the nominee. Whether it's Gavin Newsom, Michelle, or somebody else, they need somebody warming up in the bullpen now.

Cult 45 members are still chalking it up to Biden being a senile old mumbler. Meanwhile, I honestly think tonight's debate isn't going to accomplish much of anything in regard to swaying voters--most of America has either already picked their side or has already decided it doesn't care for either candidate, and tonight is really nothing more than confirmation bias.

I told you the old man would bring it.

All Biden had to do was show up and stay awake …. and he’s doing way more than that.

That being said Biden is a terrible president.

Trump is staying cool though so far.

America 2024 can’t handle Trump, the debate changes nothing and if there really was not cheating in 2020 Biden wins again.

And if there was cheating he still wins.

He can’t lose.

I keep hearing Michelle in September.

Love Biden, this has nothing to do with his actual performance as POTUS (getting legislation passed, foreign affairs, grownup shit), but I wouldn’t be surprised if he has to drop out over this. This feels very different than when other incumbents have blown their first debate.

A lot of liberals on Threads and elsewhere are trying to make themselves feel better about this by blaming the moderators and pointing to Trump’s constant lying. I’m not one of them. This is a catastrophe.

Watch the Nixon-Kennedy debate in 1960. We've fallen so far since then.

That said, Biden easily won this debate.

Worst debate I have ever seen.

We are all ‘suckers and losers’ for having these two for a choice.

NBC, CBS and ABC immediately started talking about replacing Biden as nominee as soon as the debate was over.

I thought Biden did great … what did I miss?

The vultures are swarming.

The chyron on CNN: "Dems saying 'we have a problem'" after Biden's performance tonight. John King is freakin' the fuck out, same with Joy Reid on MSNBC: "My phone never really stopped buzzing throughout. The universal reaction was...approaching panic!" The headlines on Drudge (which has leaned pretty far left the past couple years) is a poll on who to replace him with.

Are they overreacting? It sounds like they're throwing Biden overboard, so the question is who best to replace him?

Newsom? Michelle Obama? Hilary II? Sebastian Bach?

That was horrific. Biden flopped. What happened to the State of the Union guy? It should not be a close contest with a felon, but it will be. All he had to do is not suck.

Really? The debate was an unmitigated disaster for Biden. He was weak and couldn't make concise coherent points without stumbling over words and getting numbers wrong and words wrong. His voice was weak from the getgo (a cold?) but even when he wasn't talking he looked like an old guy with his mouth hanging open. He seemed confused at certain points, though he did rebound a bit later in the debate.

Trump is a fool, though. He refused to answer anything, and he did nothing but lie constantly and pull his usual "everybody says" nonsense for the entire debate. He has nothing to offer as President. He offers nothing on a policy level of any sort whatsoever. Okay, according you Joe is terrible, but what are YOU going to do to correct all the bad things you blame him for (inflation, crime, immigration, etc). He never actually says *anything* or lays out anything remotely close to an actual plan about anything, though. He's a vapid moron. Most of the time, he wouldn't address the actual question, but would go back to respond to Biden's previous remarks. CNN should have thought this scenario through and been ready for it, but as usual they failed miserably as a news network.

I'd vote for Biden's corpse before I'd vote for that mentally ill, less-than-human piece of shit DJT, but there's no denying this was a really bad showing and now throws the entire campaign into question. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a "health issue" causes Biden to step down and someone else (likely Gavin Newsome) to step in as the nominee. There's 5 months to go, so it's not too late.

Stiil, it feels to me that we are really in trouble as a country.

I’m stunned at the immediate democrat backlash against Biden.

Something is up.

Was it a knockout? No Did he get knocked down? Absolutely not.

Democrats clearly want Newsom and that would be worse than a brain dead Biden.

You clearly didn't watch the dabate. Arguably, the worst debate performance of all time by a sitting President.

And I am Team Biden. Quit the wishful thinking, it was a fucking disaster.

Newsom: "We've all had those nights...you have good moments, you have bad moments. You wake up the next day, you dust it off and you move forward."

It'll be easy to have Biden feign illness or sickness and step aside for the good of the party. There's still time, but it'll be chaos until then.

Maybe my expectations were so low that if Biden remembered one number and stayed awake it’d be a win.

Trump brought nothing, probably Trump’s worse debate I’ve seen.

Let’s vote for the other guy that wasn’t allowed to debate, I think his brother was
president in the 1900’s or something … I’d vote for him over these two old men.

I’m a huge Biden fan. Like I’ve seen every major speech he’s given the past ~15 years, every debate, a lot of small event speeches, I have not once seen him be the caricature that people paint him to be until tonight.

But it’s not about me. Debates are about appealing to the minimally informed/minimally engaged voters who ultimately decide elections, and bc of that I think this was a catastrophe and I think he might’ve gotten knocked down. I hope you’re right though!

Obviously I didn't watch the debate but I've seen the headlines this morning.

You know the old phrase "When America sneezes, the world catches a cold"? If Biden has a cold, he might well just have given the world cancer. I don't mean Trump, he's just a useful idiot for people like the Koch brothers and their cronies, the oil companies who knew climate change would be disastrously real decades ago but suppressed the reports and are still blocking any effective action, the theocratic wannabes (decent name for a band) who'd be happy with a Handmaid's Tale society, and all the rest of the snake-oil sellers and dictators-in-waiting. And what they do in the US has worldwide repercussions.

I tuned in to watch the Trump train wreck, however, I tuned out because NeonKite is spot on. Trump was Trump with lies and dodging anything related to an answer, however, Biden only poured fuel on the fire of being disoriented, not able to complete a sentence/thought, and has the old man "where am I" look most of the night, which only made Trump look more vigorous and possibly more appealing to the uneducated, I mean undecided.

RFK had his own debate on YouTube or somewhere at the same time as this debate … sad, sad, SAD …. CNN refused to let him appear.

CNN even says Trump won, I thought Trump brought nothing.

Maybe I’m too old to be forming opinions, I’m clearly wrong about everything … I should’ve checked social media first to see what my opinion should be.
