I'm watching Decline II
I picked up the Decline box set the other day and I have been so pleased with this investment. I watched the first one last night--so great.
Tonight is Part II.
I ate me a gummy about an hour ago and let me tell you something--LIZZY BORDEN ROCKS.
And Poison seem like cool guys. That whole "The 4 look to the 3, the 1 being the individual" bit was like the Marx Brothers. They might be GENIUSES.
Just say no, people.

I never watched the first one until maybe 6 or 8 years ago, and instantly loved it. I might even like it a click more than part II.

Lizzy Borden and Seduce are the highlight of the bands who perform. Megadeth was all over MTV at the time so they were no surprise. Odin and London stunk the movie up. It’s like Penelope went out and found the two worst hairbands on the Strip at the time. She didn’t do the scene any favors but the scene didn’t do itself any favors either.
Poison and Ozzy were the best. I used to like the Chris Holmes part. Now I just find it sad and cringy.
I’m glad you liked it. Lizzy’s name and image fell flat but they were legit in it.

I’m watching it now because of this thread-
I didn’t remember the chap wearing Odin singer saying he was suicidal. What ever happened to him?

Re: I'm watching Decline II
I wonder what it finally took for some of them to accept they were not going to become rock stars no matter how badly they wanted it. Some of those people were so cringe and it was weird how blind they were to it. They really did think their lack of talent didn't matter and their swagger made up for it. It would be interesting to revisit them now and hear what made them throw in the towel.

It’s all sour grapes on Black’s side of it.
Axl and Randy ripped off DLR with the chaps. Randy to me sounded like Joe Elliott if he couldn’t sing, write good lyrics and had a lame image.
Axl could actually carry a tune and was always somewhat open that Nazareth’s Dan McCafferty was a big influence on him. Obviously Brian Johnson was too.

Someone could just as easily done a doc on the dark side of the early 90s Seattle scene. It could have some up-and-comers shooting up heroin saying corporations suck after signing to a major label.

Grunge Decline
Opening shots should be Def Leppard performing Hysteria / Pour Some Sugar On Me from Sep 4 2024 show at T Mobile Park with 55000.
Interview people all day how “great “ grunge was
Can’t interview Cobain Layne Cornell
Have cameos from Pear Jam kids telling all the lies Pearl Jam dads told them
Last scene should be Butch Walker crying

Phil Lynott wore studded belts too.
I doubt Jim was the only rock singer going shirtless in the 70s. That’s kind of a dumb thing to argue over.
Re: I'm watching Decline II
The story has been told differently a few times, by both of them. It's a bit hard to piece together with the scene.Tommy2Tone84 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 6:45 amTraxan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:55 pmI don't believe for a second Chris poured real vodka on his face. But as best I can tell, the first half or so of Vodka that he pours all over himself is real, and then refills the bottle with water for the rest of the scene.
I mean, he pours 2/3rds of a bottle on his face, and then 2 minutes later the bottle is full again, lmao.

I didn't learn till years later Ozzy's orange juice pouring was fake.
