It's nice to see the old Rockers still putting a message out there.

From https://www.loudersound.com/features/br ... -interview:
Q: Not many people may know this, but early in your career you co-wrote two songs recorded by Kiss: War Machine and Rock And Roll Hell. Share the backstory behind that.
A: Kiss’s deal was they had to have their name on the songs if they were gonna record it. They put some bit in the song that would qualify for a credit, but they had nothing to do with writing the songs. At the time, this was around ’81; Jim and I were just young songwriters looking for a break. I guess we were grateful for that.

I'm pretty sure Michael Bolton said the same thing about "Forever".Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:08 am From https://www.loudersound.com/features/br ... -interview:

I always loved that song is this is a great version. Nice effort put into the video and the track.

Better than the piece of shit motley song released today… but that doesn’t take much

Strange that they didn't do this with "Is That You?" or "Odyssey". Were those both recorded and released by the original artists before KISS covered them?Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:08 am Kiss’s deal was they had to have their name on the songs if they were gonna record it.

Cool. I gotta say I like the way Kiss modified the riff better though

Interesting. But it sounds like he's doing a cover of a Kiss song. Would like to hear this in a more Bryan Adam-style. More Springsteen-ish.

Everyone said that back when STP first released their album. Yes, it does. Supposedly Gene actually wrote that part.

I think it’s great that Bryan has recorded these songs but you can tell there’s not much effort put into this. I would have loved a better production on ”Rock N Roll Hell”.
Still, as a previous poster wrote, it’s better and more fun to listen to than Mötley’s cover of ”Fight For Your Right”.

King of the Nighttime World was another one.

Is That You was just a demo, wasn’t released.

And here’s another one, Gene took the music to a Plasmatics song and put Paul’s Elder era chorus on it and it became Loves A Deadly Weapon.

Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
I think they are just the original 80s demos and not re- recordings. Anybody know the real story?Zinny wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:08 am I think it’s great that Bryan has recorded these songs but you can tell there’s not much effort put into this. Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
You might be on to something, I don’t know, but he did a performace video for ”RNR Hell”, so the band has at least rehearsed it enough for that:fret123 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 6:36 amI think they are just the original 80s demos and not re- recordings. Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
Covering War Machine and not making it heavier than the original should be a crime.

I dig it but Gene’s is better.
If it’s a demo it’s a good one.

Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
I hope those are demos. Otherwise, they spent more money on the video than the song production.
Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
FWIW, when it comes to "War Machine" at least, per an interview with Bryan he said that Gene had the main riff and Bryan turned it into a song from there.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:08 am From https://www.loudersound.com/features/br ... -interview:

Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
I'll also add that Gene's third verse in RnR Hell is good and the song lacks without a third verse, as based on Bryan's version. So Gene actually knew something, rather than "change a word, get a third", on that track, anyway.aznsquirt wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 1:57 pmFWIW, when it comes to "War Machine" at least, per an interview with Bryan he said that Gene had the main riff and Bryan turned it into a song from there.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:08 am From https://www.loudersound.com/features/br ... -interview:

I don't know if it's because I'm used to the Kiss versions, but I'm really surprised at how much Paul's voice added so much to these three songs.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:19 amOdyssey was.Wiseacre wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 4:16 pmStrange that they didn't do this with "Is That You?" or "Odyssey". Re: Bryan Adams- War Machine
They were all shitty to begin with.
I can’t believe someone sent them that demo of “Is That You” and they thought that was a must to put on their new album. It’s a wacky song anyway. Cat drooling on the barstool?
