I think she's doing a fine job.

I would prefer the chick from Guano Apes or maybe Axl Rose but this Armstrong looney is ok in my book.

This just blew up, again. Apparently her Mom is fucking David Miscavige's assistant.

She's not just "a" Scientologist, she's as much of a Scientologist as you can be without being Tom Cruise.

And I don't believe for a second that both Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson, who had both been in the band since before they were signed and three years before Chester, are sitting this one out because of unrelated issues. Maybe one, but both? Get the fuck outta here.

No skin in this game, but aside of maybe being a Danny Masterson apologist (as were Ashton and Mila when they wrote letters to the court), what’s the big deal? It’s a cult, but we always say let people believe the earth is flat as long as they aren’t trying to shove it down my throat. Many other actors work with Cruise without issues, why is this different? I admit, I know nothing about her except Dead Sara and what I read here.

Their covering up of sex related abuse goes way beyond Danny Masterson. And she doesn't get to claim ignorance of anything that's gone on, due to who she is in the church. Plus, Chester was a big mental health advocate, and guess what Scientology doesn't support? Yep.

It's a PR nightmare.

Do Linkin Parks fans really give a shit about any of that, though? Their average age is, what, 40 years old?

It's not like they're going to release relevant music - they're a nostalgia act now. People 40+ are gonna come out to hear them do the hits.

I don't doubt people are blasting them on social media about it - it's a great way to farm engagement - but is the average ticketholder gonna give a fuck? I mean, Marilyn Manson is back touring.... similar age range of fandom, his fans don't care how he treats women.

I was thinking about that. I mean, I feel like it's GOT to cost them somehow, but you're right, at some point, it's a brand and people just want the brand, and maybe the people complaining online weren't going to buy tickets anyway.

Although, I think if Chester was still alive, he'd have a problem with being a nostalgia act, because his whole thing before he committed suicide was that the fans REALLY didn't like the last album, and he was lashing out because he felt like the band should still be allowed to be artistic and change. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't a contributor to what happened to him.

Don't know that it matters anyway, album sales are so low now.

Well, it's always been known that she's a second-generation Scientologist.

If anything, that's given lead to giving her a pass, in that she was obviously born into it and didn't choose to be there.

It'll matter, just not nearly as much as everyone on Reddit would like to think.

At what point do you go from victim to perpetrator? She's 38 years old, she was in the Cadet org, she knows of/was a victim of the child labor abuse, separating of families etc. She holds celebrity status & the COS loves all this. However, if she goes against the COS, she loses everything, but people have done it. Beck, Leah Remini, Jason Lee, Jason Beghe, it can be done.

The youtube channel "Growing Up In Scientology" has 3 or so videos breaking this down. Check it if you want to hear a view from a former COS insider. It's pretty bizarre.

It's hard to say. No matter the truth about her involvement in Scientology it's very problematic. If she's a hardcore, participating Scientologist, she's not going to talk about it, but if she's disavowed it, has serious problems with it, or even left, she's unlikely to say that either, because it's a dangerous thing.

So on one hand, if she can't disavow it or clarify anything that might make people feel better about it, and on the other hand, that means if she's a hardcore Scientologist to this day she can get away with "well, she's probably not a part of it, but can't say anything".

So the truth is probably never going to come out.

From 2019
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald on the day his new album Hyperspace was released, Beck told the newspaper, “I think there’s a misconception that I am a Scientologist. I’m not a Scientologist. I don’t have any connection or affiliation with it.”
