Rock Rock Till You Drop - thought was AC/DC
Cool Change by Little River Band thought was CSNY.
That “Your Dead” theme song from the show What We Do In The Shadows - I was sure was Donovan.

As a kid, I had read about AC/DC before hearing them. Then I misheard the announcer on the radio, introducing ABC's The Look Of Love. I thought this AC/DC doesn't sound very hard.

I remember someone in school not knowing Judas Priest didn't write Johnny B Goode.

A few years later he was probably shocked that someone wrote a whole book based on a Warrant song.

Oh and every song on the first two Britny Fox albums could be Cinderella. And Cinderella's Night Songs I thought was AC/DC.

Sheila by Tommy Roe. Who is blatantly impersonating Buddy Holly, so it’s not uncommon.

I thought all of Jody Watleys songs were Janet Jackson and didn’t know Jody Walter existed until the internet.

Thought “Dirty Work” by Steely Dan was Todd Rundgren for years. Doesn’t even sound like him, but I was dead certain it was.

The best 80s AC/DC albums post-FTATR are The Cult - Electric and Kix - Blow My Fuse.

When first hearing KIX's "Don't Close Your Eyes" on the radio, I thought it was a new Great White song.

When first hearing Femme Fatale's "Falling in and Out of Love" on the radio, I thought it was Pat Benatar.

On a similar note, I had no idea the National Lampoons Vacation song "Holiday Road" was Lindsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac. I just found that out a few weeks ago.

I'm sure there are lots of people out there that thought John Cafferty "On the Darkside" was Bruce Springsteen. I probably thought so too the first time I heard it.

I was a very long-time fan of Stevie and FM going back to the early ‘80s and had seen Vacation a million times, but that song was just never mentioned by them or Lindsay. I always assumed it was a goofy Kenny Loggins song since he had done “I’m Alright” for Caddyshack, “Danger Zone” fir Top Gun and also “Footloose”. I learned MANY years later it was actually a goofy Lindsay Buckingham song.

Yeah, I remember trying to find it when Reservoir Dogs came out and not being able to locate it on any Bob Dylan cd.
So you didn't listen to the DJ in the film explaining how the song came about?

I had no idea for ages that Dissident Aggressor off South Of Heavem wasn't a Slayer original. I wondered why there were no writing credits or lyrics in the cassette inlay but at the time my knowledge of Priest started and finished with Breakijg The Law.
