Al was the biggest cunt in Van Halen, everyone knows that.

You're not the only person I've heard say that, which is why I said what I said about wanting to hear Dave's side of that conversation. Something doesn't add up there. Yeah, Dave can be as grandiose as it gets, but he was making statements about it being a tribute show. He clearly knew it was a tribute show. So, even with Dave being Dave, it doesn't make sense that he'd shoot down a segment about Ed. Something tells me Al wanted to something bigger than just, for example, what Pantera is currently doing with Cemetary Gates for the brothers, and Dave basically told him something to the effect of, "that's too big, it'll wreck the momentum of the show, etc. etc."

What I don't get, was that if Alex hated Sammy that much, how in the FUCK was everyone going to coexist on that "Kitchen Sink" tour that was planned before Ed's cancer came back? The book came out in 2012 and Sammy did the Cabo Wabo deal in 2007, so those bridges were burned LONG before 2019.

This is disappointing. I wasn't expecting him to fully unload on Sammy the way Sammy did on them in his book, but I don't know how you write a memoir about your brother and skip over five of the platinum albums you made together. But this is a much bigger middle finger to Sam--barely acknowledging him.

Also, is he counting everyone they jammed with among those singers? Otherwise, they had two other singers over the years.

I'd agree with that, except for the fact that Roth was starting to do press (Joe Rogan), and it sounded like they had hold dates at certain stadiums (Yankee Stadium)? I can't imagine it would have gotten that far if it wasn't possible.

But maybe they were just all going through the motions to give Ed something to live for.

All I know is when he said “you’ve gotta drink your Drain-O” all I could think was METH because of how he was looking and acting during that earlier era. If he wasn’t doing traditional treatment he obviously didn’t mean chemo.

Can't believe they were actually jamming with Chris Cornell too (and he was also playing bass) - Seems like the timeline was after the last Soundgarden album and before the last Soundgarden tour (there's about a 4 year window in there) - Alex mentions how fragile a state Chris was in at that point. That would have been incredible to hear new music from that.

Yeah Sam was full of shit about mending fences. Every time he told that story it changed. First he said they texted a few times. Then next interview it was they talked on the phone. Later on he said they were doing video calls. Then it changed that Ed wanted to write songs with him.
