it was semi-interesting, though I must admit I've never heard of the band Boy Elroy.

he also mentioned a band, Venice, who was apparently signed.

never heard of them, either.

what are you talking about? I'm nowhere near a KISS fanboy.

I was genuinely curious, as I'm always on the lookout for music from that era.

after some research, I found out that Boy Elroy never recorded anything officially, and the band Venice released an album in 1990 on Atlantic.

not horrible, but not great, either.

BAM! He has some good points, there are definitely musicians who are mercenaries, reminded me of a guy I was in a band with who wanted to get signed on Shrapnel so a bigger band would hire him (typical MIT shredder type geek)

I remember getting some photos and press in Music Connection magazine, which is more of an industry type rag. It seemed like a big deal at the time. It didn't go anywhere though (you know how many bands are in LA??)

"""""""""""""CEO, what’s your memory of his band?""""""""""""""

I remember both Shock and Boy Elroy, but was unaware they were the same band with a different singer.

I do remember Jamie, the singer of Shock, whom Brad says they "had issues with" and my guess is, they fired him based on what he said here.

I do not remember Brad though, but its apparent he was on the scene and around.

He took a few shots at me in a few of his videos, and I am not sure why. I don't know the guy, but he seemed to have an issue with me in the 'Nothin' But a Good Time' docuseries.

He kind of goes off on my comments about Randy 'O' from ODIN. All I did was, recall a few scenes from Decline (which the Producers asked about) and it's not uncommon that people have recalled Randy's scene in the hot tub when he said; "If I don't make it, I will kill myself" or something similar.

I basically recalled and commented on that and a few other scenes and again, if memory serves me, these were scenes that were brought up in the questioning from the Producers.

In related news... Randy 'O' and I actually have chatted in recent times, like within the last year or so, and had a few long phone chats. We were never friends back in the day, but obviously knew about each other.

After someone pointed out Brad's video interview with Randy, I actually messaged Randy and he didn't seem to care one way or the other. There was no harm meant, and I was not dissing him, or talking sh!t either... it was just part of the conversation when the "talking heads" from this Docuseries were questioned, and his Hot Tub scene was one of those subjects.

I have since watched a few of Brad's videos and it appears he's went onto some level of success with his guitar playing... kudos to him!

TUFF was on the cover of Music Connection, with RATT in the spring of 1988. And it was a huge deal at the time, as few local bands would get the cover, even an in-set such as we had.

There was a solid multi-page feature inside as well... and that was not our only press in Music Connection.

If you recall, the Editor in Chief, was Kenny Kerner, who at one point was the Editor of Rock Scene, and many other National magazines.

He loved our band, but... if I am being honest, he actually loved me. lol. He was really into the whole Teen Sensation thing, and put me into a bunch of magazines, like Teen Machine, ZING, Rock Hunks, Concert Shots and others. He was def about the image, and knew that looks were a huge selling point.

Kenny has since passed away, and for those who think the name is familiar, he also Produced the first 2 KISS albums. He was very good friends with Bill Aucoin, who he suggested we have a meeting with and we did. This was "post KISS" of course, and I believe, it was after he managed Billy Idol as well.

Both were rumored to be Gay, or were... for what that is worth... and while Kenny was kind of flirty with me, it was nothing too crazy and he was just a super sweet man.

He was very instrumental in us getting some of our earliest National press, starting in 1987. I am forever grateful, he was a very good man.

He was also a Professor at UCLA, and taught a music class, in which he asked me to be a guest speaker. I came in and basically talked about the music industry with his students, answered questions, etc...

I just searched it, he died in May 2014, so a decade ago!

Someone else who worked there for years was Tom Farrell. He too, was big on the local scene, would go to all of the clubs, and did several reviews of our shows, or would blurb us in the weekly Industry Reports, etc...

Sadly, Tom also has since passed away.

Getting the cover is crazy, I'm hoping you still have a copy or two of that around somewhere!!

Wow, that hits close to home. Tom was the guy that took our photos and got us in there. Legit photographer and awesome dude!!

Funny story (and I could be completely off on this) we did the photo shoot with him at the Hollywood Forever cemetery over by Paramount, it was our guitarists idea. Couple weeks later we see another band at the same location with Tom's credits in one of the local mags (Big Bang Babies/Rock City News maybe?) That bastard!! :D
