Socialism/Communism took China from a backwards agricultural country to a global industrial superpower.

Can't argue with 19% of the global economy by GDP, and most of it is state-owned or mixed-ownership enterprises, the latter effectively state controlled.
Also, between 1981 and 2019, the percentage of China's population living in extreme poverty decreased from 88.1% to 0.2%.

I wouldn't want to live there, but they have been successful no matter how you look at it.

I agree, on this board. Like anything, there will always be extremism in any area of life. I never thought Biden or any president was infallible, but it's easy enough to say I didn't agree with this or that and move on. Not so with the other side of the aisle. I've seen more angry MAGA snowflakes since Nov 5 than from 21-25. It defies rational explanation.

I think one of the most disturbing things about the U.S. in 2025 is that a considerable number of people here genuinely believe this... and their lives were exactly the same from 2021 to now. EXACTLY the same, they just have a few more bumper stickers.

And yet, if you ask them, they'll tell you they've been living under a communist regime for 4 years, Christmas has been banned, and it's required that every company make a black woman CEO.

Meanwhile, nothing in their lives have changed.

If you ask them about 2017-2021, they'll tell you they were never more prosperous, their finances were SOARING. Then Biden entered office and they lost everything. Now they're getting all back. How? Trump Magic.
