John Bush and Anthrax
So is John Bush getting back together with Anthrax big news? Not an Anthrax Fan at all but this is what’s coming…
A buddy of mine heard it straight from the horses mouth.

Bush & Armored Saint have a decent reputation these days, but is anyone waiting for a reprise of that highly unsuccessful partnership?

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
That would be pretty shocking, especially since they have at least half an album in the can at the moment, and it feels like they've done a good job of supporting each other on social media.
Touring demand would definitely drop with John, but maybe they don't care at this point, especially since they're done with all the 40th anniversary shows.
Personally, I think it would be a step backwards. The last two albums with Joey were great.
Now, if they were finally doing the long awaited dual singer tour, that would be different.

I haven't really given Anthrax the time of day for years but I would definitely be up for that.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 12:54 am Now, if they were finally doing the long awaited dual singer tour, that would be different.

Can Joey no longer sing? There's no reason to bring Bush back otherwise. SOWN is only 2-3 songs in the set.

Same here, the Helloween show with the 2 singers was excellent.GoodJudge wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 2:24 amI haven't really given Anthrax the time of day for years but I would definitely be up for that.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 12:54 am Now, if they were finally doing the long awaited dual singer tour, that would be different.

They been playing gigs as normal. Had a few festival dates this year, and did a European tour last fall. If there are issues, they've kept it quiet.Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 4:00 am Can Joey no longer sing? There's no reason to bring Bush back otherwise. SOWN is only 2-3 songs in the set.

That era sucked. So it sounds about right. I think even with Joey they’re still dead issue. I think the bigger problem for them, is Charlie being too busy with Pantera.

This would be kinda like the Exodus thing but on a bigger scale. Time to shake things up!!
I'd rather see Category 7 get some love, but I'm one in 10 thousand, maybe less.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
After the tour got scrapped, I was surprised to see them still book a show out west. Would think that's a lot of work to rehearse for one show, with songs they'll probably never play again.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
Also, Joey literally just posted to FB tagging Anthrax in the last hour, so if he's out of the band, clearly no one has told him.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
SOWN was great as a standalone album by any band but yeah the era was a big flop. 2nd leg with Fight was selling 500-1000 tix and the first arena / shed leg suffered a lot of cancelations and re-routings. No one wants this.
Now an Anthrax / Armored Saint tour with a JB guest slot in the middle would be interesting and go over really well. Only / Room For One More / Random Acts then Bring The Noise if the Armored Saint bus hadn't taken off yet.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
Bush is great in Armored Saint. "We've Come For You All" is the only Bushthrax album I truly really loved, but by then they churned out a decade of underwhelming stuff so it was too late.
The last few Armored Saint album have been fantastic.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
I am a huge fan of John being in Anthrax and was super pissed when they did the reunion. With that said, I have become a Joey fan in the years since, and I don't know that it would be the best move for Anthrax, but I'll be front row at every show I could be at if it happens. I think it would be super awesome if they did a 2 singer tour or 2 seperate bands, kind of like Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell. That way fans of both eras could be happy. But with Charlie busy with Pantera, him juggling TWO Anthrax lineups seems a little unlikely.

If the Nelson material was released they could have fired him after the record and he would be due for a reunion tour right about now.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
I mean, most of it was turned into Worship Music. They didn't play a song live with Dan that they didn't with Joey. They even redid the cover of "New Noise", which I wasn't expecting at all.
But, it is kind of crazy that it's been almost 20 years since all that. Joey has been in the band longer this time than the first time around, even if you include the 2005-2007 "XX" reunion era.

Re: John Bush and Anthrax
Not happening anytime soon unless the rest of the band confirms it. And even if it did, Joey is still the true classic voice of Anthrax for me, even if SOWN does have some good music on it.
