Are canceled shows becoming more prevalent in your area
I was watching the Tank the Tech YouTube channel and he was referring to show cancellations in relation to Falling In Reverse bailing on some dates last minute due to poor sales . He also in a detail what happens financially when a band does indeed cancel a show.
Are you seeing more shows being canceled in your area?

Not really. I live in LA, which is like NYC, London etc where there is just a massive pool of people to draw from.
There's been the occasional downsizing or canceled tour though I can't cite anything specific right now.

Pantera canceled at a gig locally to me to “grieve and reflect” on the passing of Ozzy next month but then wound up with a newly scheduled date on the same night up north. Looking at the seating chart around my seats (at the time) I think it had less to do with mourning and more to do with lack of sales. Lot of “blue” on the TM app.

I'm guessing people cannot afford $400 ticket prices.
If you've got to feed your kids for the month, a cover band version of Pantera probably isn't priority at the moment.

No it’s massive overload of fun non stop
So much awesome ..got make a choice
Jon E Love Hate vs Fasterpussy Cat ..Saturday night after day 2 of beach volleyball on Manhattan Beach
Bar 10 with Love Hate vs Whisky Fasterpussy Cat
Cancellations help my life and schedule
If Pantera and Weird Al want to postpone Forum shows this month..that would help me out
I love having tour life 24/7 but sometimes it’s gets overbooked

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

And nowadays most even avid concertgoers go to a few a year, see the band that one time and cross them off the list. For most, seeing 2 Pantera songs opening for Metallica and then going to look at T shirts is probably enough. In the end probably not a good business move even when waiting 2 years to return to the same markets. And even real Pantera did 5-8k a night on average and actually did better in the mid markets most arena level bands skip now. Fort Wayne, Toledo, Lubbock, etc but those cities also can't really support 500k-2 mil guarantees.TravisBicklesMohawk wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 3:38 am I'm guessing people cannot afford $400 ticket prices.

When I moved to LA in 1997
I was shocked the small venues Pantera played
Orange Show Pavilion in San Bernardino and Palladium
Eventually after Ozzfest they booked Universal Amp for 6000
Later played half empty Long Beach arena- next night soldout 8000 at Cox Arena in San Diego. San Diego gets starved for shows so more always show up
Pantera Experience at Forum in few weeks..tickets have had massive nosedive in price…now you can get in for same price as Fasterpussy Cat at Whisky…then walk to lower bowl
Pantera classic lineup was always one of best bands ever live
Those Wilson Theatre shows in Fresno were absolutely fun

Yes. I worked in a stadium until recently and cancelled shows really hurt my bank account. Hard enough to make ends meet working events as it is. I think price has a lot to do with it. Gouged on the ticket, gouged on refreshments, gouged on merch. So it needs to be a band you're really into. Can't go to every one any more unless your either rich or well connected.

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. posted a slight drop in revenue for fiscal 2025 and a weaker-than-expected fourth quarter, as slower concert business at Madison Square Garden and fewer Knicks and Rangers games weighed on results.
The company reported $942.7 million in revenue for the year ended June 30, down 2% from 2024, missing Wall Street estimates. Fourth-quarter revenue fell 17% year over year to $154.1 million, also coming in below analyst forecasts. MSG Entertainment reported a quarterly operating loss of $25.8 million, widening from an $8.9 million loss a year earlier. Adjusted operating results swung to a $1.3 million loss from $13.1 million in the same period of 2024.
CEO James L. Dolan acknowledged the company’s strong attendance but said results reflect shifts in event mix.
“During fiscal 2025, we saw strong demand for our portfolio of entertainment assets,” Dolan said. “We see this momentum continuing in fiscal 2026, and believe we are well positioned to drive solid revenue and adjusted operating income growth in the year ahead.”

Nearly 6 million guests attended more than 975 events across the company’s venues in fiscal 2025, including concerts, family shows, and the full seasons of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. The annual Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes sold 1.1 million tickets across 200 shows, generating another year of record-setting revenue.
Still, the quarter was hurt by fewer concerts at Madison Square Garden, lower per-concert revenue as more shows shifted from promoted events to rentals, and a drop in food and beverage sales tied to fewer Knicks and Rangers home games.
MSG Entertainment also repurchased about $40 million in Class A common stock during the year.
The company’s portfolio includes Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the Beacon Theatre, and the Chicago Theatre.

In my days flipping tickets New Orleans was a huge risk. Especially smaller tier artists who would also play Biloxi, Bossier City, Lake Charles etc.TravisBicklesMohawk wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 10:32 am Nobody is coming to New Orleans, btw.

I think we once ate almost the whole front row on Travis Tritt show, who was a slam dunk almost anywhere else. And the arena? Wouldn't even touch that.
Same dynamic with Detroit vs the rest of the state too. Standalone might do okay or "urban" acts. Otherwise anyone almost anywhere in the state prefers Grand Rapids Rock City
