I was a huge Jim Carroll fan, but the only album I ever heard or had was Catholic Boy. This was 1980-81. I also read the book, The Basketball Diaries, I never saw the movie until 10 years ago or so.
Somewhere around the mid 2000's, our good friend Garbageman (aka Trashy), burned me a few CD's one of them being, The Best of Jim Carroll. It's awesome!

No, I hadnt heard it by '96. I certainly dont remember it being alongside "Mickey" and "Land Down under" on the radio. I did sing it in a punk rock cover band in the 00's though, It was prolly my fave song we did.
