Are people attending concerts in the Vegas Sphere just because "the Sphere?"

It has to be a residency. How many residency's are there in Vegas in one year? Add in the fact that the visual aspect makes it kind of a niche thing.

The usual pop acts don't really matter. Can you jack up prices because of The Sphere? Do Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Elton John, Celine Dion or Brittany Spears fans really care about the venue etc? Billie Eilish, Katy Perry etc? Do GnR fans even really care about the visual aspect?

I feel like most bands/artists that would fit in here are just too damn old, split apart or completely gone altogether. The typical psychedelic or prog acts.

Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, YES, Rush, Genesis, etc.

Yeah, most acts could do a 4 date run and do pretty well.

But, how many acts could do 12 dates over 4 weekends (3 shows a weekend) and sell out? Again, it's not a tour. They are relying on fans coming to them.

I think Tool could do some dates and do well, same with Metallica, NIN, Oasis? Radiohead?

Paul McCartney, David Gilmour, maybe The Who? But again, these three acts have one foot in the grave.
Seems Gilmour has zero interest aside from doing an album once a decade with a few shows to play the material live. Now a Pink Floyd laserium show might work. :)

Tool and Metallica are possibilities. Metallica seems to be easing out with shorter sets and more time between shows so this might be in the cards. Tool likely has 90% of the show already, just needs to scale it to that screen.

And a lot of these bands are outliving their fan base.

The last time The Who played Vegas it was 2 nights in a 5,000 seater, neither sold out. Got tix for 1 in the $25 sale. So probably not The Who.

Vegas is hell on the throat and a lot of these residency acts are actually commuting from LA.

When I saw U2 I spent a little more than $400 and that was for the rock bottom "cheapest" ticket at $268 (my most expensive ticket ever) and returning on the midnight Greyhound. So figure 1-2k and that squeezes out a lot of the people who are spending $200-500 for Billie Eilish and the like. Harry Styles and Beyonce might work. Taylor Swift is too big but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't happen eventually. I think Beyonce was in talks and for some reason backed out.

Surprise Phish limited to 4 shows, they could still be playing and selling out.

Kenny Chesney? Saw him in a stadium with zero production but it was 99% full and it was like where the Stones were in 1989/1994, like whole families and stuff. Just weird trying to wrap my mind around it. A lot of country stars (Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Shania, Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks) have already had Vegas residencies. Actually Garth was playing Caesars with like $800 tickets so unless he has a long term contract that might work. Something tells me he would have just as much fun supervising and building the production than just playing.

I would like to see a show there, just once. But I'm not sure who I'd be willing to pay that price for.

My daughter, who is evidently clueless to ticket prices and travel prices, asked me a few weeks ago, if she bought the tickets, could we go to Vegas and see The Eagles.
I explained that she could not afford the tickets, no matter how she tried, and am I supposed to pay for flights, hotel room, and food??? The answer is no, my darling!

My daughter and I did see The Eagles together in 2018 or maybe 2019, here in LA at The Forum. It was fantastic.
I get why she'd want to see them again, I do too, but no, not like that.
