Jump was Jump, but I'll Wait had a darkness to it. All the Spazzy keyboard stuff was pure schmaltz.Gibsonite wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 11:25 amJump & I'll Wait were the first indication that VH were going down the synth-heavy road, no matter who the singer was. I prefer Roth-Halen by far but the idea that Sam showed up and ruined the classic VH sound singlehandedly is laughable.

That's true, unfortunately.Tommy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 11:38 amCrankerBait wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 9:29 amThere's an argument to be made for them, if only you based it on that trio of nearly identical, shit awful ballads from Get a Grip. (It would have been excusable if they'd stopped at "Cryin'", but they had to go and add the other two render the rest of the album sackless.)
Pump did have "What it Takes", but that happened to be a decent song.
They managed to redeem themselves a little with Nine Lives, it has to be said, but then they went and completely shit the bed with everything that came after.
They solidified it with Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.
