Which album is their best?

Out of the three that matter of course.

I voted for Electric! It has 4 songs I like and the other ones have 3. Plus, Peace Dog might be my favorite song of theirs.

Sonic Temple, for “soul asylum” alone

But that’s an awesome 3 album run

Sonic Temple and it's not even close. Perfect album if you drop 'Wake Up Time For Freedom', which sounds like a f*d up Skynard cover with a funk part slapped on it.

Love is the bottom of the heap, did the record company tell them to try a bunch of different sh*t to see what stuck to the wall? She Sells Sanctuary stuck, that's for sure.

Sonic Temple. "Fire Woman", "Sweet Soul Sister", and "Edie (Ciao Baby)" are quite solid songs.

No, Aristocrat. No.

I never listened to Love front to back before, when 'Phoenix' came on I thought 'this is their attempt at grunge' - it sounds very AIC to me.

This album came out in '85 though!!

Did the Cult invent grunge??

Sounds a bit like “I wanna be your dog.”
More Jane’s addiction than grunge.

Can’t be grunge since the lyrics aren’t whining about how they feel life more deeply than any other human who’s ever lived on planet earth

Love is their most interesting album, and my favourite of the three. I liked Electric when it came out, but it was kinda weird how they completely changed their sound.

Love for She sells sanctuary alone. A great 3 album run. Beyond good and evil and choice of weapon are also great albums. Underrated band…..
I wonder if their band name hurt their commercial success. I mentioned The Cult and people think death metal.

Doubt it. They were successful enough. I doubt a 'better" name would have helped them.
